What a gem, fantastic bargain this close to downtown

What a great, historic, place. A fantastic bargain this close to downtown, do not miss taking a peak at the "Great Hall" just through a back door off the very nice breakfast room and outdoor patio area. Impressive to say the least. Also, probably should insist on a third floor room as they were constantly compared to other rooms as the better available. I'll definitely book here again. One thing I will note, the staff is sincerely friendly and helpful, and service is perfectly fine, however, if the team running the place knew what 4-star details and service entailed I believe they'd get a 4-star rating. However, they're doing fine as it is and they are close to a rough neighborhood, though it only looks bad, I never had an issue walking back late to the hotel or exercising in the large, open park just one block away.

Dining tip: Long walk from hotel

There is no food available at the hotel that I know of, but the very good "Meat and Potatoes" Gastropub in the theater district is within walking distance (albeit an appetite building walk over the bridge). So, take advantage of the great restaurants in the theater district and then a short cab ride or walk back to the hotel.

Very Nice Place, But....

The hotel was nice and clean. The staff was helpful. The room was a pretty good size. However, their mattresses (or at least the one for our room) was terrible! Way too springy and bouncy. Every movement created a rippling effect. Hard to sleep when that sort of things happen.

Entertainment tip: Short walk from hotel

Right across the bridges is the cultural district, which has plays, etc. Very nice area. About 20 minutes, walking.

What a treat!

What a treat to stay at the priory. The building is lovely. The history is so unique. the rooms have a nice binder with great restaurant reviews and story of how the priory was saved from being demolished for an interstate. The room was cozy. Everything inside felt fresh and newly painted. What a delightful experience amidst the hubub of work. Easy access to downtown, interstate and delicious restaurants. A peaceful retreat. I will be back.

An o.k. stay at the Priory

We were looking forward to this hotel very much, it seemed to have some character. Unfortunately, the room was very basic & the bathroom itty bitty. We heard a lot of loud conversations in the middle of the night, too, which we slept threw mostly, but was still quite annoying. The breakfast was also pretty standard. Overall, pretty "eh" experience.

A diamond in the rough

All that makes The Priory a great place to stay lies within its walls: great staff, clean rooms, historic atmosphere. All the amenities of a larger business hotel but on a small, intimate scale. What lies outside is a transitional neighborhood in a location that makes getting a taxi challenging--plan for up to a 45-minute wait from request--and a walk to downtown out of the question. If you've planned a full schedule of meetings plan to stay downtown; otherwise, for a relaxed, off the beaten path location The Priory is a great option.

Lovey Little Retreat

This hotel was delightful in almost every regard. Literally, to me, there were only two drawbacks to perfection: the bed was uncomfortable (I ended up sleeping on the floor!), and the room was too light (blackout shades would fix that issue). Otherwise, it was absolutely perfect and the staff was fanatastic. Clearly, each staff person adored his or her job working there and was so friendly and kind. I will never stay anywhere else in Pittburgh!

Shopping tip: Short drive from hotel

Andy Warhol musuem within walking distance (highly recommended!) The Strip District with its fabulous Italian food and awesome shops is a bit of hike, but would be a lovely stroll across a beautiful bridge on a nice day.

Beautiful Accomodations

My visit at The Priory started with the door being opened and my family and I greeted by named. We were told that they were glad we could make it and asked how bad our trip was in the snow. The service continued the best from there. The beauty of the room, the friendliness of the other guests during the complimentary brekfast in the antique rooms were beyoynd compare. I will never stay anywhere else.
