A good time was had by all
My wife and I recently enjoyed a five night stay at this Inn. From the initial contact with front desk staff, we were treated like valued clients. The entire staff was absolutly committed to providing for our every need...and did so with charm and warmth rarely found when traveling. The afternoon and evening "socials" in the library were so enjoyable that we scheduled our sightseeing around them. When in the Charlestown area, this will be a "must stay" for us. The location was very convenient.

The location of the Anchorage is excellent but I found it musty and cramped rather than charming and quaint. Almost B&B like but the linens were soiled and the room was very small. No natural light. Breakfast in the library- felt like I was in a game of CLUE

Excellent Location
This hotel had a great location. Near several restaurants and right next to the water. It had a great bed and breakfast feel without the price! We stayed for our wedding anniversary and were greeted with a smile. Very charming with solid wood doors, molding, wrapping staircase. Wine and cheese served at 5pm in the drawing room. Breakfast from 7-9am that included home made biscuits. Within walking distance of several ghost tours, wine tastings, open-air market, waterfront. Perfect!

Location, Location, Location
We headed down for a long weekend in Charleston and we couldn't pass up the rate at the Anchorage Inn. Little did we realize, that the location was perfect! We woke up the first morning to see dolphins just down the road at the Waterfront Park! A great first trip (of what will hopefully be many) to Charleston!

Beautiful Hotel, Great Location
The staff accommodated my early check in without missing a beat, and they were very responsive to any questions I had during my stay. While there wasn't a lot of extra space, the room was fairly well appointed with a couple of sitting chairs and a very comfortable queen-sized bed. I had one of the rooms without an exterior-facing window, but that wasn't at all bothersome to me. Housekeeping came around in the evening to offer ice and turn-down service, which I appreciated, but declined. I also didn't take advantage of the complimentary hot continental breakfast, evening wine and cheese reception, or evening sherry nightcaps, but it was great that they were offered. The only things I would have changed were (1) free wireless Internet access (only available via cabled connection) and (2) in-room coffee maker.

The Anchorage Inn is two doors down from The Griffon, a wonderful English Pub with a very nice list of beers on tap. The food is also very good, and the staff as friendly and fun as can be. If that's not your scene, there are myriad dining options a scant block away.

Anchorage Inn -- Quaint
Anchorage Inn is quiet and pleasant with a B&B atmosphere. Complimentary breakfast is not wuite B&B quality, but very good. Complimentary late afternoon wine & cheese and evening sherry nightcap in teh Library are nice touches.

Great location, friendly staff
The location is perfect for the great restaurants Charleston has to offer or just for walking downtown or along the river front to the Battery. The staff was friendly, and the afternoon wine and cheese, and sherry nightcap were a nice idea. The breakfast left something to be desired, but in Charleston, there are a lot of good options. The peculiarity of the room is that it is an interior room, and the only window opens on to the public area. Not a big deal, but not ideal either.

great find
Nice hotel in a great location at an affordable price. We stayed for two nights. The first night our room was very small, dark and cramped, but we were able to switch rooms for the second night and it was a huge improvement. I would suggest you specify the room you want & request a king size bed, (the queen is a bit small). The breakfast was an average decent continental meal, nothing fancy. So if you're expecting a B&B type of fare, you'll be disappointed. The staff was pleasant & very helpful. We would definitely stay here again.

Great Place, Great Price
My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights. Super close to all historic attractions. Very quiet with old style charm. Extremely pleasant and helpful staff. My only negative is the continental breakfast was a carbohydrate overload with no protein.

It's OK
Hotel has the Charleston charm, however the rooms are very small with no outside windows which makes the rooms seem even smaller. Because all the rooms open to the lobby there is alot of noise. Not very good for sleeping in. They do have a couple of nice touches, the free wine and cheese and late evening sherry. And being close to East Bay is worth the price.
