Not what I expected

The main hotel is a beautiful facility... I booked a room with a King size bed thru ****** when I checked in, I was given a room with 2 double beds (which were as hard as a board - 2nd disappointment), when I called the front desk, I was told that ****** couldn't guarantee the availability of a particular room. (1st disappointment.) The toilet in our room ran every time it was flushed, you had to lift the back cover off and manually seat the flapper (3rd disappointment). There was no ice or beverage machine on our floor, so we had to go to the 1st or 2nd to get that (4th disappointment). The location of the hotel is very good - It's easy access to many attractions, but in the future, I will stay at a less expensive facility who is known to have comfortable beds.

Cleanliness

The front entry is very nice but when we got past that it went down hill. The complex at times smelled like cooking grease. The room we stayed in the floor had crums on it and the one comforter had blood on it. At night coming back from dinner walking by the rail cars was not lit very well.

Great location, historic property

Book a train car, and do so away from the pizza cafe / restaurant car. The car rooms are funky and a unique experience. If you cannot get a car, I would not recommend staying in the building with the indoor pool--it is not ventilated properly and the rooms smell like chlorine. ALL of the staff at this hotel were pleasant and very accommodating. The location is fantastic with live music venue(s) art galleries, cafes, and world-class restaurants within 2 blocks walking distance. I will stay here again.

Choo Choo review

This was a wonderful experience and will recommend it to many others. Very romantic get-away with many stores, historic sites and cafes to visit. The room was dirty though with a stained toilet and a dirty sink. The toilet was also broken and had been placed on uneven flooring so it rocked as well as ran on and on all night. There needed to be a frig in the room and the new single serve coffee makers make horrible coffee. Other than the room, the stay was really nice. We liked visiting the historic site, the singing wait staff at the Station House and the wonderful buffet breakfast in the Garden Inn. We walked through the beautiful courtyard touring the train and enjoyed the remarkable landscaping! Overall, I'd still recommend the Choo Choo to others.

Great Atmosphere, walk among the historic trains and enjoy the gardens!

Guest registration was quick and easy, you get a parking pass that allows you through the security gate with free parking for your stay. There are three hotel building areas as well as the train cars and three separate swimming pools. They have a great breakfast buffet and a very nice dinner restaurant with live music.

huge

the grounds at the Chattanooga Choo Choo are huge. We saw a great concert at the concert hall on property. There is 3 restaurants, 2 bars, stores and train cars everywhere. The room is dated but clean, next time I will stay in one of the train cars for $30 more. The hotel is in a blighted area, so don't walk around too far from it at night, (the grounds are safe)

Not too bad

I was there for 9 days. Maid service missed me two of those days even though I left a tip. I've stayed there several times over the past 10 years or so and they still have the same carpet and room furniture. An upgrade is in order. No longer affiliated with the Holiday Inn, I wonder if that is whey?

Classical looks, but only partially...

I enjoyed my stay at the Chattanooga Choo Choo Hotel as an overnight getaway. The location was close to the downtown strip, Lookout Mountain and the Tennessee Aquarium. The price was about the same as other hotels in the area but it was nice to stay at a hotel that was different from the rest. My only complaint was that there are actually three hotel buildings that are part of the Chattanooga Choo Choo Hotel and I was in hotel three. Hotels two and three are not the old train station, they are additional buildings behind the old station. That being said, our room was clean and there was a nice outdoor pool/hot tub/waterfall area by hotel three.
