Poor customer service

We stayed in this beautiful property over the Fourth of July weekend. Gorgeous public areas and nice room. However, there was damage done by the housekeeping staff to a medically necessary breathing apparatus. Hotel denies moving or dropping the unit which was rendered totally non-working for the second night. Front desk clerk understood the damage and took a report, but hotel management denies any responsibility and refuses any compensation for a unit valued at nearly $800.00. The fact the floor was wet beneath the unit shows that something happened. I certainly will be filing in court to recover these damages. Ruined a wonderful weekend getaway. Room Tip: Guard any electronics or equipment!!

Celebrating with family

A family member was having his 80th birthday party in the Robert Taylor Banquet hall at the Carnegie Hotel so what better time to stay which made it so very convient. The hotel was extremly nice and we felt the price was for this establishment was very reasonable. The rooms were spacious and clean. Would diffently stay in the future when we're in the area.

Amazing

The Carnegie was such a great old hotel...much grander than we expected to find in Johnson City! The public spaces are lovely, the spa looked great, although we did not have time to use it. The staff was professional and efficient. Best of all were the rooms! They were very large with very nice furnishings, the leather chairs were the most comfortable I have ever had in a hotel. Nice desk area. All rooms had a small frig which was handy. The bathrooms were the size of some Manhattan hotel rooms. A large shower with a separate soaking tub and a very large vanity area with 2 sinks. Nice amenities. Good towels and upscale linens on the triple sheeted beds. Everything was meticulously clean. My only (very minor) complaint was that housekeeping was knocking on the door by 8:30AM both days and they were vacuuming the hallway right outside our door by 9...so if you want to sleep in be sure and use the Do Not Disturb sign

Turn of the century charm.

Old world charm, yet with absolutely contemporary appointments, the Carnegie has blended the look and feel of a early 1900's hotel with convenience of modern plumbing. Our large bathroom included a tub, a separate shower and two widely spaced under-counter sinks in a large granite vanity. The over-sized room has a built-in writing desk and very comfortable king-sized bed. A large television and small refrigerator are housed in period cabinets that match the desk, headboard and footboard. Coffee maker, hair dryer, ironing board and iron are in the room. The lower level of the hotel is home to a wonderful spa staffed with an extremely competent masseuse. Also on the lower level is a large fitness center, wine cellar and direct access to the patio and large outside swimming pool. The lobby is stunning with stained glass ceiling and overstuffed furniture that maintain the early 1900's feel. Down a windowed hallway is the intimate bi-level library and sitting room with fireplace and more over-stuffed furniture. And finally the richly appointed lounge and bar leads one to the full-service restaurant were we found the prices quite reasonable.

Time-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

A sky-walk gives guests direct access to the East Tennessee State University campus and the ETSU mini-dome. A Ruby Tuesday's and two banks are a short walk West. A fifteen minute drive West takes you to historic Jonesborough, the oldest city in Tennessee.
