Pleasantly Surprised
Our trip basically revolved around being on South Padre Island, however, we didn't want to pay SPI prices on hotels...Enter Rose Garden Inn. So, I have to admit at times I felt like Brownsville is kinda shady, but the hotel staff were very nice-when we arrived I had booked a non-smoking room online, and they had me in a smoking room, when I pointed this out the room was changed in seconds to accommodate. The room itself was very clean, nice and cool, and very quiet which was nice. Sure the rooms are a little outdated, but for the price you pay to crash for a night and only be about 25 minutes drive to the beach I think its a great bargain. I would stay again, and have already recommended it to other friends wanting a less expensive alternative to beach resorts but still getting a fantastic beach experience.

Short drive from hotel
There are a lot of free beach accesses along South Padre next to the Hotels, but if you want somewhere to shower off quickly on your way back, as your heading down the main street of South Padre Island, go to Beach #2 as its marked, the access was only $4! The beach is fantastic and not too crowded.

Not what I expected
We stayed fr three nights. I expected a coffee maker and a free breakfast, I got niether. In fact, the only thing I got was some left over which was in the microwave. I had to ask for wash clothes twice. The pool was empty, yeah in in the middle of summer. I will not stay there again. My money will spend fine elsewhere.

THE OKAY
WE WENT TO THE BEACH THE BED WAS HARD, THE PILLOW WERE NOT SOFT AND FULL. THEY WERE SMALL. NO ICE MACHINE CLOSE TO THE ROOM. THE HOTEL WAS UNDER STANDARDS.

Great price clean room friendly staff but saw plenty other motels same price same area better looking. Appreciated free breakfast concept but not everyone wants mexican breakfast buffet of breakfast tacos. Ice machine stayed broken drink machine not working either.
