Established in 1912, this landmark in the heart of El Paso has brought together the elegance that characterizes the Camino Real name and all the warmth and tradition of southern hospitality.

Located in El Paso's revitalized downtown adjacent to the newly remodeled convention center and only 15 minutes away from the airport, the Camino Real El Paso is a shining testament of the city's colorful past and vibrant future.

Listed in the National Historical Register, the Camino Real offers 359 Texas sized rooms and suites and offers the grandeur you would expect from this hotel gem, beginning from the most photographed grand staircase in the Southwest, to the exquisite crystal chandeliers in the lobby and ballrooms, to the marble crafted by skilled Italian craftsmen almost a hundred years ago.

In addition, the Camino Real has the most options to offer visitors coming to the Sun City. Conventions, seminars and social events can be staged in one of nineteen meeting rooms with space for up to 1300 guests. Our guests can savor the exquisite taste of regional Mexican cuisine in Azulejos or indulge their senses in our fine dining Dome restaurant. The world famous Dome Bar provides the perfect ambiance for an unforgettable evening. One can enjoy a cocktail under the breathtaking Tiffany cut glass dome, which is 25 feet in diameter and is suspended by wires.

The City and the Hotel are similar

I love this hotel; I would never stay anywhere else. I love the history, the rooms are very large, its beautiful, the staff was extremently friendly. But, there are problems. One day there were no towels in the room and even though the front desk was aware I was "air drying" no towels arrived until the next day. We were blocked from parking one evening because of a large function (I parked anyway). Its not a typical 4 star hotel, but I would not rate it any less simply because the building itself is just wonderful. Its not a cookie cutter hotel like all the rest are these days.

Excellent business location

Second stay at this hotel over a one year period. The bar area is a fabulous feature with the Tiffany domed ceiling and leaded glass windows. Although the bathroom is a little outdated, the rooms are large and comfortable; staff is friendly; good WiFi connection and a free airport shuttle. Convenient walking to several restaurants and the theater. This is a great and consistent stay!

Camino Real

The room was hot, no way to cool it. There was no refrigerator, or microwave. The staaf was friendly unobtrusive and the rooms are clean and fresh looking. I have seen rooms throughout the world and this was ordinary, in every way.

A decent place- but needs an update

It's a beautiful old hotel. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The restaurant that served breakfast was good and fast. The room was nice but a few things. The bathroom sink dripped, the toilet seat didn't fit right, the room door did not lock when we first got there, so a handy man had to be sent up to replace the batteries, the heat/AC rattled whenever it ran. The bed was uncomfortable. And pillows were terrible. The TV in the room was an old picture tube model- and the signal was sensitive to it being moved- I've never seen that before with a cable system. The place was renovated in the 80s and needs an update- but the hotel staff are great!

Happy New Year?

I work in hospitality myself and had plenty of options as to where my husband I should stay while visiting El Paso, TX. I chose the beautiful Camino Real for New Years Eve. I thought it would be a romantic stay for both of us since we hadn't seen each other in 9 months due to an overseas tour in the Air Force. Upon first arriving at the the hotel, the line was almost out the door which is expected on NYE. After waiting about 2 hours in line to check in we asked the valet to take us to our truck so I could gather our luggage and belongings. The valet insisted that he would gather everything for us but I explained we had a lot after traveling from San Antonio, TX and all through New Mexico. I explained I needed everything from the truck including behind the seats (jackets, makeup bag, camera, gifts). Well a little over an hour of waiting on our luggage we finally heard a knock on the door. He unloaded everything and my husband tipped him and he went on his way. Soon after I realized I was missing half of my belongings. My husband had to go back downstairs to find the valet and found out our stuff had been delivered to another room and some which was left in the truck. We ended up getting everything figured out but by that time we were just exhausted. We decided just to stay in and order room service from the room service menu provided in the room. ALL lines had a busy dial tone for hours so my husband eventually went downstairs and asked the front desk how we were to get room service. The front desk agent told him he was welcome to stand in line and order a meal at the restaurant. He explained to her he didn't want to sit down at the restaurant but instead wanted room service. The front desk agent took down our room number and then said she would call us shortly. Of course, they never called. We ended up eating Papa Johns Pizza on NYE and didn't even waste our time with the free breakfast that I booked with our reservation. I would like to point out that there were hardly any working ice machines. Also, the wall paper in the bathrooms are peeling horribly and whoever patched the ceiling in our bathroom did a sorry job. This stay at the Camino Real turned out to be a nightmare.
