Not worth the money

The hotel was average but over priced for the quality. We could of slept on the floor and had as much comfort as the bed provided. The bathroom sink was stopped up. Check in and lobby staff was efficient and friendly but for the price I won't stay here again.

Good place to stay if you are looking for a clean room and clean pillow and sheets to sleep over. Quiet rooms with all needed: mini ref, microwave, hair dryer, flat TV, double beds, hot water, good A/C, iron and table, excellent location. The only issue i would say is that we stayed at 4th floor and there is only 1 elevator and room was located to far from it. in fact, rooms are too far away from brakefast room as well as hotel amenities.

HAD A GOOD OCEAN VIEW ON THE 5TH FLOOR, AND THE LOCATION WAS PERFECT RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF KROGER AND WALMART. EASY TO GET TO THE BEACH. LOVED THE STAY. BREAKFAST WAS OK.

Last min trip, Hotel very full, but clean, bright, front desk was always friendly. Parking was tuff, and getting to the breakfast bar as the hotel was full. Also small pillows on king??? Good view of ocean and room was clean. Would stay again.

The room was clean and comfortable. Having a microwave and fridge in the room was very nice. We went to the grocery store and got something for breakfast so we could eat when we wanted and not have to go out for breakfast. The beach is right across the street which was great for a morning walk.

My family got in early,about 2am,check in was quick,got to our rooms,got ready for bed. Within 20 mins there were some loud noises coming from upstairs,called the front desk and he said he would check on it. By this time I had got dressed and left my room. The front desk guy said he would take care of it. Before he could get back to the front desk they were at it again,this time I went up. I reckon my visit up got their attention and the noise stopped,it was 330 am by this time.

Hotel staff was extremely helpful, curdious, and very professional. The breakfast in the mornings was very good with a variety of foods offered from fruit, waffles, yogurt, eggs, sausage, and even cereal for the little ones. The room was big enough for our needs and stayed plenty cool during the summer stay.

We stayed for two nights and while we were there we visit Moody Gardens, the Railroad Museum, the Strand, Seawall and road the Ferry. This hotel was in the perfect location to get to all of these places!! The breakfast was wonderful, the only thing that would have made it better would have been more seating!! We had to wait a few minutes for a table to open up each morning. Compared to other hotels I have stayed in while in Galveston, this one was one of the best for its price.

The hotel was clean, with big spacious rooms and a great view of the beach. The staff was friendly and courteous. The best part was you could park and get straight to your room without having to go to through the lobby. The only negative was my wake up call that I asked for never actually happened, I had to rely on my cellphone's alarm clock. All in all, a good experience.

Awesome weekend/end of summer getaway

This was my first time to stay in galveston, being a teacher and starting school today I wanted a nice relaxing weekend getaway and this was perfect for what I wanted. Great location, great staff, nice rooms, loved the swim up bar. I had rented a movie off the T.V. only to find out that the movie I watched just happened to be the new HBO Saturday night movie. Just joking around I told the front desk person when I checked out and she kindly removed the movie from my account. All in all, great place to stay!

Clean, spacious rooms. Comfortable beds. Sufficient (free) parking. Didn't try out the pool but it looked very nice. The view of the beach was excellent. At night on the balcony, you can hear the waves crashing to shore. Love it! Just stayed 1 night but I would definitely return.

Great start to a vacation.

We stayed at the Hilton prior to boarding a cruise out of Galveston. Not only was it a pleasant stay, we found they provide free parking during your cruise - with a shuttle to and from the cruise terminal. We got a great deal on the room and saved another chunk on parking fees! The only reason I wouldn't rate this hotel five stars is Hilton's insistence on charging for internet. Don't order the breakfast buffet unless you are a really big eater - ordering off the menu is less expensive with large portions and very tasty!

The representative at the front desk was very courteous and polite. She was very helpful in recommending a restaurant for us that evening and gave us coupons to help celebrate. This was our first experience in staying at a Hilton property. We were surprise we didn't have a microwave or little fridge in the room. Also, we were surprise there wasn't some type of little continental breakfast. The room was beautiful. The cleaning staff was very friendly and very helpful. We would definitely recommend it to others. Overall we enjoyed our anniversary weekend.

This was a great hotel. It was clean and the staff was very friendly. We enjoyed our time there as it is very close to the beach and within walking distance of many restaurants. The breakfast area was a little crowded but there was plenty of food and it was constantly restocked.

The employees were very friendly, efficient and knowledgable. They were there with a smile and helped to make my stay as pleasant as they could, accomodating my requests for the room details and view (ocean).
The hotel itself is situated across from the beach. Very low noise and clean with modern ammenities -- lcd tv, wireless & hard lined internet access, feather bed and pillows, huge bathroom, private balcony, refrigerator & microwave, sitting area, etc.

Weekend getaway in an historic Galveston hotel, great history and story that they could play up more. Had a king room and though comfortable I would have preferred a bigger room. We had the Sunday brunch which is not included but a great meal and worth the trip just for the brunch. Great atmosphere. Nice and courteous staff. I think the price was high for the night but would go back.

Hotel Galvez is beautiful! From the moment you walk in you cannot help but be impressed and enveloped by the feeling that you just stepped back in time to when life was a bit slower, more gracious and inviting. The paddle fans barely rotating instantly put you in 'relax' mode. Southern charm mixed with Spanish Revival architecture and decor makes this hotel a sight not-to-be missed. The rooms are on the smaller side but well appointed with everything you need including a blow dryer, toiletries, coffee maker, coffee, tea and two bottles of water were a nice touch. We stayed in Room 423 that has a less than desirable view but served its purpose and then were upgraded (for free I might add) to Room 401 - just below the supposed haunted Room 501. It was a beautiful oceanfront corner room with a small walking closet and full office area. We didn't want to leave! Both beds were so comfy it was hard to get up especially with the view of the ocean we had without having to even lift our heads off the pillow. The amenities at the Hotel Galvez are top notch from Spa to Restaurant to the pool and jacuzzi area - it has it all. I enjoyed a pedicure one day and we loved the massive Sunday Brunch that happen to fall on New Year's Day. The staff are all wonderful and concierge are so sweet and informative, I wanted to take them home with us to Connecticut. The area was heavily damaged by Hurricae Ike, so be prepared. There is much rebuilding and repair yet to be done to the area that has a ways to go before it's back to its prime. Thankfully the Hotel Galvez was spared any damage. We had dinner at Fish Tales one night and lunch at the Mosquito Cafe the next day. Both were yummy. The Mosquito Cafe had a nice eclectic feel with a healthy modern menu and to-die-for mango ice tea and curry tuna salad. We also had dinner at Queens one night - which I would highly recommend if you are looking for some legit Texan BBQ and locals. We rode the bikes that are offered for free for use by the hotel. What a great little perk! We had fun peddling around the beach area with the sea breeze in our faces. The Strand offered us about two hours of entertainment with its many bars and touristy shops but nothing unique that you cannot find in any other oceanfront community. What made our visit special was beautiful romantic and haunted Hotel Galvez. We love you Hotel Galvez and we hope to visit you and Galveston again sometime soon.

This hotel is very accessible from the highway and is close to the cruise terminal. They let you park while on your cruise and arrange for transfers. The hotel is clean and quiet.

I love the view of the gulf and of the seawall. [...] The hotel room has a nice view but the A/C did not work very well. The room was tolerable, but was not cool from the hot weather outside. I doubt that we will book there again because the the A/C.

first of all it took three hours to get checked in. They could not find our reservation so after several phone calls to the company we purchased the room through , we finally got into a room. The room was ok but the shower did not work and there was no stopper for the bath tub. I would probably give them another chance but as far as referring them to somebody I'd probably be reluctant

Very busy summer weekend at the hotel, but staff were nice and friendly. LOTS of young children--I really appreciated the "adults only" section of the pool to get away and relax! Swim up bar was also a plus!

The hotel was very nice. Kid friendly but still had all the great things the parents love. attractions are in walking distance. They offered kid activites in hotel so nice when you are between attractions. Would definatly go back. Its not easy to find great hotels when you have kids 1 - 5 and 7 ..

Pros:
1. Nice small hotel. It is quiet, clean and well maintained.
2. Excellent nightly rates compared to other hotels in Galveston. However, felt nickele-and-dimed by additional charges.
3. Great location if you want to avoid the noise and traffic along Seawall Blvd.
Cons:
1. This hotel charges $10.00 per night for off-street parking.
2. Hotel charges for newspaper, and you must opt out at check-in to avoid this charge.
3. No pool.
4. Free, but flaky, WiFi.

The rooms were really nice. There was no noise from the hustle and bustle outside. Even though it looks like a big hotel from the outside, the first floor is mostly a resturant. There was no hotel lobby, just a small room to check in with a stairway and one elevator to the rooms above. Nice location with plenty of things to do and eat within walking distance. Bad side, we got hit with a $10 a day parking fee for each vehicle.

We were treated very courteously and found that having the double-queen suite with foldout sofa allowed our group of five to stay in one room. We needed to be on this end of the island to be near friends so found this location to be ideal.

This professionally managed resort offers the amenities and comforts of home to discerning travelers. Escapes on the Beach opened in May 2005 to become Galveston's newest condominiums on the beach, just 1 mile west of the seawall but adjacent to all the fun that Galveston has to offer. Escapes offers unobstructed views of the Gulf with private balconies, and a beautiful outdoor pool and whirlpool. Rooms are spacious with private bedrooms, sleeper sofas, and kitchens. Registered guests must be 21 years old or older. Notice to guests- The resort is undergoing repairs as a result of the damage sustained from Hurricane Ike. While we will make every effort to avoid any disturbances to our guests, there will be activity related to this repair during daylight hours. This activity is not expected to be inside any occupied units, but may occur in units near or adjacent to occupied units, or in the common areas of the property. Thank you for your understanding as we work to bring the resort back to its pre-storm status. Office hours are as follows, 8am-5pm Sunday and Monday through Friday, and 8am-8pm Saturday. Please note, pets are not allowed on the property. No boats, trailers or RVS may be parked at the resort. Early check-outs will not result in partial refunds. Guests unaccompanied by an individual 25 years or older are required to pay, at check-in, a damage deposit of USD 500. This deposit is fully refundable at check-out upon inspection of room. Comfortable accommodations,very clean, and well stocked kitchen and bath. Great ocean view. We did have difficulty with late check in. There were no instructions and we drove around the property several times...finally walked to an upper level andfound a night guard who let us in our room. We had requested a late checkin. Over all, a good stay.

This Condo was great! We were very comfortable any loved the location right on the beach. I will stay here again. We were in room E51 it was almost perfect, we had a little trouble with the toilet it seems the water somehow would drain out the tank in the back when it got to a certain level it would fill back up, I reported it twice the maintence crew said there was nothing wrong with it, I invite him to try to sleep in that room while all you hear all night is the water tank fillinig up every 20 minutes. We closed the bathroom doors and managed but not happy about that. There also seemed to be no hot water for the whirlpool bath tub but didnt really use it. This condo is perfect I wsh we had stayed longer and next time we will. Thanks Escapes for a good beach vacation
