I was working so I didn't want to pay a lot for a motel. This Howard Johnson Express more than met my needs! It was clean, comfortable, good location, had amenities and the staff was nice.
It would be great if the carpet and bedspread felt cleaner - my only negative.

Their staff is very friendly. The hot breakfast is waffles, eggs, sausage, juice, and coffee. Don't expect a nice TV in your room, it's a little outdated. They do have Wi-fi, it runs pretty well. The bed was nice. For the cost, it is a good deal.

My daughter and I only spent one night there and it was after a long day coming from UTSA freshmen orientation first day. We were super tired and everything looked fine for us , the room was clean, big enough for both, my daughter loved the comfty bed...the only problem we found out it wasn't hot water at all!!...we took a shower with cold water and it helped us to relax anyway...other than that it could be a perfect place to us.

The only thing that kept this hotel from being all 5s was the breakfast. While I appreciate a free breakfast at a hotel that goes above the average "continental" breakfast, the sausage gravy tasted odd (like no other sausage gravy I've ever had); the bacon was limp and not tasty; the coffee was bad; however, the scrambled eggs were passable. Taqueria Jimador, across the street, has fantastic breakfasts for less than $5.

This hotel is easy to get to from the airport, and its an easy shot downtown. It was clean and quiet. Rooms were fine and staff polite and helpful.

The Econo Lodge Central, San Antonio, Texas has a very friendly desk clerk when you check in. Unfortunately that was the highlight of our stay. The room and bath need repair...badly. Of course I did see counter-tops and various construction boxes in the parkinglot. So, I suppose they are doing a remodel. The room needed painting, the old room-to-room door had been caulked shut and painted over at one time. The tub looked to have been restored, a long time ago, and was flaking around the drain and walls. Blankets had cigarette burns in a non-smoking room...figure that to be either old (very old) blankets or guests not following the rules. The location was good, not too far from where we needed to be. So, for one night at the price, it was what we expected.

The hotel was right off of I-10 which made it great for easy access. The room was clean as were the grounds. No bed bugs, no dirt. Breakfast was a plus and included waffles with sausage, not just pastries. Our room was relatively close to the highway and we didn't hear any of the traffic. I would stay there again.

Everything was as described. Room was very clean, which is very important to me. The refrigerator in my room was terribly noisy. Did not notice until I turned TV off just how bad is was. I ended up turning it off, because i did not want maintenance in my room late at night. Hotel offered dinner, cocktails and breakfast with the room, food did not look very appealing, so I passed. Otherwise, nice hotel, but could have found better for the price.

The hotel is very nice. It is clean and quiet. It is located in an area that seems to be very safe. There are plenty of restaurants located nearby. It located close to the highway for easy access but far enough away that you don't hear the noise from the vehicles. The only thing I found a problem with was that the beds are too soft. I prefer a firm mattress.

A good balance between quality and price. The room was larger than most with more than enough room to set up a playpen for our toddler to sleep in, and I liked having a fridge and microwave in the room. Room was also very clean. Parking was limited, breakfast was very average, but staff was courteous and helpful. Would definitely consider staying here again the next time we visit San Antonio.

They exceeded our expectations. Great hospitality. Hotel was filled to capacity and they accidently gave our room to another family, but they corrected that immediately and gave us a gift for our inconvenience. Breakfast buffet was great and we took advantage of it everyday. Would definitely stay there again.

Our room was perfect. No problems at all. The free hot buffet breakfast was awesome. Hot sausage, eggs, Texas style homemade waffles were great also. I would have spent at least $30 with family for this breakfast elsewhere. The staff were very friendly. Check-in was fast. The quality and appearance of hotel inside and out appeared new.

Checking in was fast and easy, with my room card in hand, I took the elevator to my room. The king sized bed was cozy and pillows fluffy. The staff was polite and very helpful with everyone greeting you. Rooms were cleaned each day. The free breakfast was just that, free but had everything you could want. Cereals, bagels, eggs ect. The cinnamon rolls were a favorite of mine. A two minute walk puts you at Huebner Mall. Lots of shopping,food and an AMC theatre. A short drive will take you Six
Flags, I rode every roller coaster and The shops at La cantera a must visit shopping experience.

The room was nice, and the bed was big, the pillow top was a little to soft for my liking but everyone is different. Great room service they kept our bed nice and neat and we always had fresh towels.

Great for a short stay with a family. We stayed 3 days with a family of 4 and the room started to feel really small by the third day. One of the cleanest hotels I have ever stayed in. The pool could have used a little better cleaning though.

We really enjoyed our 7 days of spring break. The staff is nice and the courtyard is beautiful. The shuttle comes in handy for close by places like Six Flags, Malls, Movies, Target or Walmart and not to mention the many near by restraunts. If you have kids this is a great place to stay. The complimentary breakfasts get a little repititious but perfect for little ones. Our only down fall of trip was that the maid didnt check sheets she jus crumbled and grabbed and in doing so she grabbed our 5 year olds little teddy she is extremely attached too and has had since she was born and needless to say we had to go home without it with a crushed little 5 yr old , we asked hotel about it but no luck on her bears where abouts, just sucks that her biggest memory of trip is that the maid mustve threw her bear away. Kinda put a damper on our whole trip.

The rooms were very nice and spacious. The lobby needs to be updated and the furniture was dirty. The staff was wonderful though. We didn't use the pool but it looked fine. The location was great for where we wanted to go, Six Flags Fiesta, only a couple miles away. The breakfast was great.

We've stayed here a few times and haven't been disappointed once. The rooms are clean and spacious; the parking garage is nice; and the location is great for shopping at The Rim and La Cantera. Also real close to Six Flags, Bass Pro, and not far from the Medical area.

We had such a great time, we went to the river walk, shliderbaun and floated the river in new braunfels. I couldn't have asked for a friendlier staff and a more comfortable bed! I will recommend this hotel and [...] to friends and family!

The hotel employees were wonderful!

Our truck was broken into while we were staying here. Police officer told us we should probably get a new hotel. He also said that this does not happen at this hotel often. The manager took it upon himself to find us a wonderful room at a sister hotel for the same price as we paid. He also took the time to set up a car rental for us and also for the repairs on our truck. He also allowed us to use his office phone so we could contact insurance company. We couldn't have asked for a better manager. Hotel might want to have more frequent security checks, brighter lights in parking lot and more camera's towards back of lot.

Overall our stay was good. It was very conveniently located next to the restaurants and shops at The Rim. The place was clean and the staff friendly. My 2 sons enjoyed the pool. We were there just to relax and get away from the house for a weekend, and this hotel nicely and sufficiently met our needs. We would by happy to go back.

Reserved this hotel due to location to Fiesta Texas and got way more than we bargained for. The RIM is loaded with shops, huge theater, eating establishments, etc. If you love sports, you will love this hotel. Bass Pro Shop and Dicks within a mile!!

We book our room here at the last mintue and was a little sceptical after the room we had just had. The staff was great the room was nice the beds were very comfertable. The only thing missing was a fridge in the room. Over all we were very pleased.
