Great place to stay for Bloomsday
The hotel and staff are great. My room wouldn't cool down however. I was only there for a night so I didn't bother anyone to fix it - just figured it was because of the mini heat wave.

Good Clean place to stay
Loved that it had a tennis court and that it was right by the river with a jogging trail. There were all these little prairie dog things popping their heads up all along the river and trail. So funny to watch them. Close to the convention center although you had to take the long way around instead of just crossing the road because there was a barrier right in the middle of the road that you couldn't cross. Hotel looks older from the outside but it was updated inside the room and was clean and comfortable. The sliding glass door in the back, bottom floor, was open when we first walked in. No lock on the handle. When I called the front desk to ask if it locked, the lady answering the phone said, "See the bar? I said, Yes, and then she said, that's the lock." Alrighty then, The hollow aluminum bar that is falling down and not even secured on is supposed to be the lock on the door? A maintenance guy came and gave us a wooden stick to put in the bottom of the slider door. Our friends stayed at a different hotel and theirs was nicer and more secure for less money. Felt strange not to have a lock on the door. I would get a different hotel next time that was nicer and had better security for the same price.

Wonderful Staff
Although the hotel building is older, the staff made up for any concerns. The rooms were comfortable and most importantly exceptionally clean. The food in the restaurant was great as well as the service. Thanks to all for a great time!!!

Great Spokane location for business and pleasure
This location works so well for me and my downtown needs. Staff, room great, restaurant less than I would like. No room service in the winter, breakfast now a warmed over continental style. Food quality below price.

Red Lion River Inn
Overall I like this hotel. The rooms haven't been updated in awhile (no light in the shower portion of the bathroom, noisy heater, etc.), but they're clean and comfortable and the location is wonderful. Try and get a room with a view of the Spokane River. Also, if you have any issues with stairs, get a room on the ground floor - I didn't see any elevators. However, since there are only two floors, it's usually not a big deal. I enjoy staying here - I wish they had Comedy Central on their cable selections. Five ESPN channels, no Comedy Central?

Shopping tip:
Short walk from hotel
Well, it's a medium walk. Boo Radley's has a wonderful, off-beat selection of gifts (yodeling pickle anyone?). A few doors down, Atticus Coffee has a nice selection of beans from several roasters, as well as a large selection of gifts. I also just discovered drive-thru lingerie espresso stands, but wasn't brave enough to try one. Next time!

Good Value
My experience here was average. Great deal for the price, though. Safe and convenient area; free parking was super convenient.

Needs a gate
We recommend this venue for any Spokane visit. We had a funny experience when we went out the doors to the tennis courts (not to play tennis but thinking we could get to the walking trail along the river): there was a fence beside the courts and no gate - and the doors locked behind us when we went outside. But what a great location and well-maintained hotel...
