No winter is complete without hot chocolate, and no celebration is complete without a tipple, so it's no surprise that the two combined have become a festive favourites. Top picks for spiking your cocoa are warming whiskey or Irish cream.

Ingredients & Method

600ml milk, 142ml double cream, 100g chopped chocolate, 50ml rum, whiskey or baileys, marshmallows for topping

Add the milk and double cream to a saucepan and gently warm them, add the chocolate until its melted, don't let the mix boil! Serve while still hot, mixing in your alcohol and adding mashmallows as a sweet topping.
