Time for the little black dress!
With its opera, Broadway performances, ultra hip nightclubs, sophisticated cocktail lounges, and neighbourhood bars, New York City boasts of the most happening night scene in the world. So, if you want to catch a play and then dance the night away to the tunes of some of the world’s best DJs, I suggest that you catch a cheap flight to New York today and enjoy a fantastic New York break!
Some wine and dance
Head east from Broadway to the East Village, and you’ll find the streets lined with bars that play live music and stay open until the wee hours of the morning. From Irish pubs to dimly lit cocktail lounges, you’ll find it all here. Lower East side also has a similar night vibe. While the hip Max Fish on 178 Ludlow St. is a regular haunt for the young jeans-clad crowd, Serena on the 23rd St. is favoured by the fashionably dressed and chic New Yorkers. And, if you want to sway to some cutting-edge jazz or Brazilian music, I recommend Nublu on the 62nd Ave. C in East Village. However, most of New York’s best nightclubs are found in the Meatpacking District around the 9th Ave. and the 13th St., with Cielo and APT being my personal favourites. If you feel adventurous, hire a car to see all of the area.
Merry musicians
You can catch a number of awesome rock and pop performances by some of the biggest names in the industry such as Britney Spears and U2 at the Madison Square Garden. The Knitting Factory on 74 Leonard Street offers a good mix of live punk, rock, bluegrass, and experimental sounds. However, if it’s jazz that takes your breath away, I suggest that you head to The Blue Note on 131 West Third Street or the Iridium Jazz Club on 1650 Broadway. Here, you’ll more often than not catch the best American and international jazz musicians singing just for you.
Outrageous Laughter
Nightlife in New York City is not just limited to theatre, dance, and music. Laugh yourself to the ground at some of the world’s leading comedy venues such as Gotham comedy club on 208 W. 23rd St., Caroline’s on Broadway on 1626 Broadway or Dangerfield’s on 1118 First Ave.
Since the night-time entertainment in New York will definitely set you back by quite a few dollars, I suggest that you save money on your New York hotel accommodation by taking advantage of the offers for the Candlewood Suites and Gansevoort Park and have a wonderful stay in NYC.
Tip: Most of the nightclubs have pretty steep entrance fees payable in cash only and have a strict dress code. So, ensure that you have enough money on you and are dressed to kill.
