So you’ve bought your InterRail pass, swatted up on all the destinations you’d like to visit and mastered ‘please’ and ‘thank you’ in five different languages, all that’s left to do now is get started! There are plenty of things for you to consider when planning the best route to ensure that you make the most of your trip around Europe, not least where to start and finish your journey. Italy is a great place to launch your adventure, working your way up towards the Alps and beyond. With this in mind, starting in southern Italy could be a great option.
When in Rome
Why not start by booking flights to Rome. There are plenty of great hotels in Rome to choose from including the Bettoja Massimo D Azeglio Hotel near the Termini Railway Station. The Trilussa Palace Congress & Spa gives you the chance to enjoy a spot of luxury, while the Tritone Hotel offers a fantastic central location. After starting your holiday in Rome, it’s time to get all aboard and explore the diverse cultures and landscapes that Europe has to offer.
All aboard
A good route to follow involves stopping off in Florence or Milan before heading east into France to Lyon or Paris and down through Spain. Alternatively, stop off in Geneva and work your way across into eastern European cities such as Zagreb, Budapest and Prague. Then it’s onwards to Germany for a stop-off in Berlin before experiencing the best of the west in Bruges or Amsterdam!
