Great welcome from the reception staff. Rooms nice and modern in the new part of the hotel. Snow and cold outside but room lovely and warm. Menu a little limited in the bar and restaurant, just good pub grub. But not advertised as anything different. Got chicken wings were very nice.

Nice but very expensive food and drink

Pros: Lovely and cosy place
Cons: Lower the food and drink prices unusually high for a place in the country
Location: No shops or anything without having to drive
Lovely hotel very cosy but drinks more expensive then Edinburgh prices in city centre .The room service was fine burnt sauce and haggis Bon Bon average.again very expensive for what was really a snack.i asked about using the spa and told to phone them myself.the receptionist always seemed to disappear.also no crisps or nuts in room no other option but to order room service as I was going to be eating late

Nice hotel for couples and families

Very warm welcome on arrival. Spacious hotel. Despite amount of rooms, it never felt crowded. Amazing breakfast selection. Evening bar meal was also faultless. Hotel was a great place for exploring local areas with lots of nice scenic places to visit. Overall, a fantastic few days away and would not hesitate to return.

Unpleasant staff,nice hotel if rooms were cleaner

Myself and my husband stayed here for my birthday and our first wedding anniversary.we wanted luxury and something a bit special for romantic night away to celebrate.when we arrived staff seemed like they could not be bothered. We had afternoon tea and required a change to sandwich fillings for set menu as hubby has ibs it took 2 attempts before getting it right.we were disappointed they never acknowledged our anniversary even after popping it on my booking we never felt special at all more like invisible. The room was ok except a bit grubby and blood in shower and no tea and coffee or mini bar so had to do without as bad etc is overally priced.bed was big and comfy.but kept awake by a wedding party who was ping back to rooms until 5am so. It much sleep had.got up for breakfast next day tired and deflated only for waitress to take our food coffee etc away whilst we went to get some more juice.she said sorry and left the table.then when went to checkout the same girl who checked us in the day before asked if we had far to travel (4hrs) and if it was a special occasion when I told her she said oh and congratulated us but shouldn't she of checked this on check in and she would of known this. Also I felt cheated as I didn't get to see upstairs of the original house as the hotel is newly build on back so only VIP get to go up original stairs and rooms so a bit disappointed as i thought we would be staying in the actual house as that's why we booked this not your average hotel :(

Traditional Scottish hotel with luxurious rooms

Lovely setting and traditional entrance. Staff very pleasant and helpful, rooms luxurious and we had a lovely meal while there. Exactly what we were looking for and excellent value too.

Amazing night away

I brought my wife here for our 10th anniversary as a surprise and she was in love with the place it's a very lovely hotel could not fault it the staff are great especially Maria at reception she is like speedy Gonzales as we had a fault with our shower in the room as a previous person in the room had blocked the shower with something it over flowed in to the bathroom floor etc so she got us moved straight away and even ran up the stairs to meet me coming out the lift to give me vouchers for the following morning due to what happened we had a standard room which was massive the breakfast was also Amazing and the pool facilities were great also
