Fantastic little gem in the middle of the Lake District, the Daffodil Hotel benefits from an amazing view. The staff is incredibly helpful and friendly, and the spa facility is nothing to sneeze at. The breakfast consists of a buffet full English Breakfast, a choice of pastries and cereals/juices. A few more options are available "a la carte". Taste-wise, the breakfast is great, however on the 4 breakfasts we had there, the plates and cups were slightly dirty, with leftover food. Could be wise to invest in a new dishwasher system.

Very good

Staff were great without exception, the small issues that we had were dealt with politely and promptly. Dinner and lunch were good but on the expensive side, staff in the dining room were very efficient. Loved the room and the shower was amazing, nice to stay somewhere where everything worked as it should have and décor was pristine. Spa facilities included in price which was great, would definitely stay again - what a location!

Nice, clean, modern hotel but lacks character

We had booked a Junior Suite at the Dafodil burn it was nothing like the one in the photos. Essentially it was a large room with a very large bed - there was no bath. We asked to swap and they offered us a Senior Suite, larger stilla and with both a bath and shower but we were charged extra for it. The room was clean, beds were comfy and hotel as quiet so we had a great nights sleep. Reception staff were friendly but no offer of help with bags etc. Staff at breakfast were not friendly (albeit a couple) or informative, it was a bit of a strange set-up in terms of ordering from the kitchen as nobody bothered them taking our orders for both mornings. Breakfast buffet was fine, not a huge choice but good quality of what was there. Didn't try the cooked breakfast but it did look very good. In summary, the hotel was sound but we felt overpriced. It didn't yet feel properly established and lacked a 'cosiness' but did have great views of the lake etc. Didn't seem set up for walkers (no info about packed lunches/flasks etc) but more for international visitors.

Nice hotel but not perfect, are room was next to the road so there was a bit of road noise that could be heard but I know this can't be helped and other rooms are available at the opposite side of the hotel which you pay more for. At dinner we noticed some food left on the chair from the previous guests and my fork was dirty. Also which was quite supprising for a hotel in this location was how many foreign staff they have, I don't have a problem with this but you find you have to repeat yourself a few times for them to understand you and they can come across rude sometimes even though they don't mean to be, but overall it is a nice hotel in a great location with the added bonus of the spa.
