Really striking and lovely hotel. I personally felt like it was worth staying a bit out of the centre to get such a picturesque hotel. Right on the doorstep of the train station, and a quick 13 minute journey to central or about 20 minutes from Schiphol airport. Very convenient and easy to get around if you want to have a more relaxed stay and train travel is not terribly expensive, they run pretty late too, I believe until 1.30am. My husband was a bit wary of staying out of central but we managed to get around just fine. Shops, coffee shops, Primark and a cinema all very close to the hotel too, worth having a look around. As for the hotel, we had an easy and pleasant stay. The mattress was a little soft for my liking but that's really personal preference. We could hear a bit of noise/plumbing from other rooms although it was generally quiet and room was fairly clean. Staff were pleasant, we asked for travel advice before leaving and they were swift in responding. We didn't eat from the hotel as there were quite a few options around for breakfast and we ate in central everyday before coming home, so we can't comment on that. Generally very good stay, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

The hotel's explanation makes it sound like it is far closer to Amsterdam Cenntral than it really is. Aside from that however- check in was a bit of a mess, with the guy who checked me in -a tall, dark seemingly inebriated (totally stoned) fellow messed up the entire check in, so I had to repeat it with another staff member later in the day. Additionally, I was sent an e-mail by the hotel, asking if I would like to upgrade my room- but the link on the e-mail wouldn't work, so when I went in I asked if I could just do it on the day. They said no, which is fine- but they acted like my asking the question was somehow rude- despite the fact that I had received the e-mail from the hotel two days or so before arriving. Then when we actually got into the room, it wasn't all that clean. There was hair on the pillow and in the bathtub - and the toilet was um... Spoiled? pre-used? You know what I mean... To be fair, apart from checking in and out I had very little interaction with the staff- but they were rather inept both times. Even checking out, the girl really didn't seem to know what she was doing and I wouldn't really recommend saying here. It's OK, I suppose but it's definitely nothing special or all together interesting. The majority of the staff could also do with some re-training. Actually, having said that I did have a nice interaction with a Latin looking staff member (a guy with dark hair at the front desk, didn't catch his name) but the rest just looked confused.
