We were so lucky to get the end room on the 15th floor. Panoramic views on 2 sides. Rooms were clean and well-stocked. Close to a station. Quiet area as well.

Close to metro station

Me and my partner really enjoyed our experience with mercure hotel, friendly staff, easy access to the metro station and lovely rooms, only thing we didn't enjoy was the good variety, breakfast was great but lunch and dinner options didn't vary enough for us. Apart from that excellent

A bit too far from centre

Pros: Decor and bar area
Cons: Service and correct details re room service
Location: 10 minute walk from the outskirts of city and a few bars and restaurants. student accommodation next door with a bar open to public fantastic food
Booked as as the Hotel is called Amsterdam City. Was a bit too far out of the city. Room was adequate yet a sliding door to the bathroom was next to the bed so woke us up whenever we needed the bathroom. The bar area and the terrace were nice yet sat there one morning for over 20 minutes and no service. Had a fantastic time in Amsterdam though. One night fancied room service looked at the menu which said room service available until midnight rang at 10.45 to be told they had changed the policy and it finished at 10pm. The cleaning wasn't brilliant, left empty bottles and packaging at side of bed.

Enjoyable stay

We found the staff extremely pleasant and helpful. We were able to get a river boat right outside the hotel to take us to the main train station. From there, it was easy to go to the cruise port. Thumbs up!!

Weekend break

Hotel is lovely and the rooms are very good, however I do not think that the Privilege aspect is worth the extra money. Only 3 soft drink cans, 2 bottles of water and 3 Nespresso capsules, refilled each day. Only complaint is that the towels and bathrobe were grey and coarse and that the location is very isolated with nothing around. 10 minute walk to excellent Metro service, 5 stops to centre of Amsterdam. Staff were extremely helpful and a there was a good selection of quality food at breakfast. Cost of breakfast is quite expensive (€16 if you pre-book) with children under 12 free, which is a bonus.
