This was our first time to Barcelona and, overall, I am glad we chose to stay at Negresco Princess. The hotel definitely had some pros and cons. But, the centralized location and proximity to the metro stop was unbeatable.
Let me start with some of the cons - The bed and pillows are horrible. There is nothing luxurious about them. We were also disappointed with the "VIP" amenities we were expecting as a Gold member. We messaged the hotel prior to our trip to see if a room upgrade would be possible given our VIP status. They told us it should be no problem. When we arrived, they said they were full with no upgrade availability. It was a rainy Tuesday and completely dead in there. They didn't even take 10 seconds to check this so I don't think they ever even tried. They also told us that we would receive 20% off "food". We had a late lunch around 4:00pm and when it came time to ask for the bill, they said it was for dinner only. It was not explained to us so we ended up paying $45 for an OK burger, chicken club, and two drinks.
The Pros - The room was a good value. We booked the interior atrium room. It was as expected with no views. The shower was amazing with the best shower head and water pressure. The mini bar was free and stocked daily with juice, water, soda, and a beer. The rooftop terrace and sauna were both great amenities for us to enjoy when not exploring the city.
Overall, Negresco Princess is a good, affordable option for exploring Barcelona!
