What a lovely hotel. Stayed in room 5. A very pleasant night's sleep. Comfy bed. Hot water takes a while but not an issue. Room was spotless, beds comfy, and the Rocky bars were a lovely touch. Didnt get a chance to try the breakfast but it smelled delicious and the portion sizes looked very generous when i glanced in as i was checking out. What excellent value for money. Will definitely be back. Keep up the great work!

Unique experience

Pros: The interesting historical detail.
Cons: Hooks for clothes / towels in the en suite! The container for the shower gel needs to be fixed more securely.
Location: Convenient for us attending a family funeral.
This is a lovely Arts & Crafts house with fascinating architectural detail & an eclectic collection of artefacts on display in the public areas. Room 12 is on the ground floor which is convenient, but it is also opposite the reception desk which some visitors might find a bit noisy. The room has been adapted for use as a bedroom so there are compromises. It is "cosy" for two people and there is a big step up to the en suite. It is however comfortable and warm - we slept well. The manager is very helpful and obliging.- we sent out for a Chinese meal & he provided plates & cutlery for us to eat in the breakfast room.He also spent time discussing the history of the house which we really appreciated. The car park was also a bonus.

Our stay with our dog

Pros: - Parking right outside - they accept dogs BUT the dogs are not allowed during breakfast
Cons: - This type of BnB was simply not for us.
Location: - There is an Aldi up the road.
Pros: - easy to find - parking right outside - your own card to get in and out of the building - bed was incredibly comfortable - cheap cons: - some people enjoy this type of decoration but we are much more into minimalist, white and bare. This BnB is filled with nic nacs which simply was not our taste. - Breakfast was unfortunately very disappointing. - They charge more for breakfast.

Thanks for your review! I'm sorry we weren't for you but we can't allow dogs in the breakfast room. We try to put as many photos on the site and our own website so that people know what style of hotel we are - traditional and quirky! We very rarely get negative comments about breakfast so I'm not sure what happened there, I shall talk to the manager to see if you made him aware. Thanks anyway, we like reviews that help us to improve the guest experience! John.

Charming and quirky hotel, friendly owner/manager

2 rooms were booked for elderly female relatives, who are usually very critical about the quality and comfort of hotels & restaurants. At this hotel they were both very happy, and had nothing at all to criticise. Both of them dropped heavy hints that they would like to have the opportunity to stay here again. Theirs rooms were spacious, very clean and tidy, and warm ( very important when you are in your late 80`s/midle 90`s ), and they enjoyed their breakfasts, which had a range of cereals/fruits and individually cooked items. An added attraction was the wide range of quirky and interesting objects dotted around the public rooms and corridors
