Never Again!

Pros: Nothing
Cons: The hotel needs to be refurbished in every respect (it is not acceptable to provided stained seat pads and carpets) and housekeeping improved.
I booked two rooms at this hotel before my son's interview. On arrival at the hotel, there were numerous people outside the entrance smoking and the ashboxes were overflowing - not a pleasant experience. Upon entering the hotel, it was obvious that it was in desperate need of renovation - old tatty décor and beaten up furniture, in fact a broken old sofa in the bar area had been crudely repaired with pieces of metal. My bedroom was awful - musty smelling, with old, stained furniture, horrible stains on the carpet, long dark hairs in the bath, mould on the shower screen, a red stain on the curtains that looked like blood with a feather stuck in it (as if a bird had flown into it) and rotten, mould encrusted windows. The bedding, however, looked clean. My sons room was no better and looked out onto a roof. If my son hadn't needed to get to bed early for his early morning interview, we would not have stayed. Breakfast in the morning had to be taken in a room across the car park, as the restaurant was closed. The scrambled egg was paste-like in texture and was inedible. All in all, one of the worst hotels I have ever experienced and absolutely not deserving of it's four star rating and I can only imagine that the hotel has applied this rating itself. Mecure should be ashamed of themselves and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The hotel is in the process of being refurbished, but in my opinion it should be closed to the public until it is finished.

Lost Booking

The hotel itself was fine, but could do with redecorating. Only problem was that the restaurant was shut in the evenings during our visit.We had to walk to the local village or have bar snacks. We were only given a few days notice of this closure. The only other problem was no smokers area, so smokers congregated in the entrance porch, and when leaving or entering the building you had to squeeze in through the smokers.
