Very pleasant stay

Location: Only 5 miles along the road to the NEC so very convenient for us to attend.
Our room was clean and tidy with a smart spacious shower room. The hotel staff were very friendly and chatty. Breakfast was good as was the evening meals which were available at a reasonable price. Parking was easy and cheaper than advertised. Would stay there again.

Airport stop over

Perfect overnight stop for Birmingham airport, rooms lovely excellent shower and excellent efficient staff. was away too early for breakfast and restaurants closed on the evening but used one of the take away services which was good. Will definitely use again for the same circumstances.

superb location

always a pleasure to visit the Yardley Holiday Inn Express. My daughter lives in the same road so I am somewhat biased as to its location; such convenience for me; it's a surprise to have such a modern and well-run hotel here. Also, it's a short trip to Birmingham city centre and in the other direction, shopping in Solihull is a delightful contrast. My only problem on this trip was the heating in my room which didn't work on the coldest evening of the year. It took over an hour for the manager to take the time to come to my room and agree it was cold and I had to go downstairs to reception twice to ask him (Daniel) to move me to another room. He wasn't busy but although he was polite in manner, his words were empty when he didn't deal quickly, courteously and efficiently with what was a real problem. A cold room on a below-freezing evening. Also, staff the next day were off-hand and either tired or rude. My name wasn't checked on my 2nd night which seemed to lack courtesy, not to mention security. A smile from the staff and some genuine courtesy is sorely needed. Apart from that, breakfast, comfort and facilities all great. Oh, the lift wasn't working. I'm pretty fit but perhaps that was why Daniel the manager didn't trouble him self to check my room temperature after 2 complaints.

Hotel for Gadet Show

Aside from the start where none of us could get into the three rooms we had booked, this was quickly sorted, and there is only one small lift, I would say that the hotel was very clean, friendly and the bar well appointed. It is not a big hotel but with 7 floors it could have done with another lift. The breakfast in the morning was somewhat limited sausae, beans, scrambled eggs. Fruit consisted of grapefruit. There was other food available but given we were going to have a long day at the gadget show we had wanted a it more. The staff were very friendly and also very helpful. The hotel was very clean and well positioned for the NEC (10 mins max). Only frustation was you had to go round the back and onto some back streets to get into the direction of traffic flow that allows a left turn into the parking area.
