The first room I was given was right above the reception area and very noisy so I asked to be moved. They moved me to another room which was on the third floor but unofrtunately looked out over the builders on the other side of the road. I thought this would be fine as the builders wouldn't start until 8am, boy I was wrong. 6am! And because of the old windows you could hear everything, its lucky I get up early. The room though was very cold, the room air control panel wouldn't work so they put a radiator in my room. I think the hotel could do with some money spending on it.

Nice environment. Absolutely excellent bar /restaurant and breakfast service. Really the guys and ladies are so attentive and really brings a superb experience. Food is delicious. Nice gym Pity that the room was poorly cleaned and that the blond lady at the reception didnt care less.

Quirky layout but a very nice hotel with friendly efficient staff. The bed was super comfortable and the room itself was a generous size.

Good hotel, but not living up to expectations

Nice large room, friendly staff and good breakfast. Unfortunately the bed wasn't long enough to sleep in properly (had to sleep diagonally), and there was no double or triple glazing in the windows, so was kept awake by noises from the street below for much of the 3 nights I stayed.

It should have been so much better

Pros: The general manager
Cons: See above
Location: Colemore row is the nicest street in Birmingham
The most chaotic hotel, with terrible service and horrible food. I stayed for 3 nights. On my first night, I was not able to get any food in my room other than a sandwich. My first breakfast was A disaster and it took an hour to get some hot toast. Dinner was almost inedible. My room was very cold when I arrived owing to faulty heating, though that was fixed after I complained. I was charged for my room twice, though the fee was later refunded when I complained. With two exceptions, including the GM, who was very nice, the staff were surly and unhelpful. I had a room that overlooked the street: unfortunately I was woken by loud rubbish collections and bottle collections in particular very early every morning. Having got back to sleep, I was then woken again by the light, which poured through the ill fitting curtains! Given that hotel du vin is a well known chain, with a reputation for luxury, this stay should have been much much better.

Thank you for your feedback. I was so sorry to hear of your disappointment and pleased I was able to go someway to rectifying this for you. I was very surprised to see that you felt the team were surly as they are so often complemented by your fellow guests. I hope we may get the chance to change your opinion in the future.
