The good and the not so good
The self check in and welcome's was great. Room spacious and clean. Used the Victoria bar for lunch which was fine if a little pricey but service was very polite and supportive. After an evening out we returned to the hotel around 11 and experienced what I can at best can be described as rude and ignorant service at the Victoria bar. On approaching the bar at approx 11.05 pm a male staff member was literally lying on the floor behind the bar who with a sigh made an effort to get up when I asked if the bar was still open. The female staff member made great effort to tell me that the bar was open but would close come what may at midnight. I was made to feel I was imposing by asking for drinks. At £150 for the nights stay I would expect a level of service which was entirely lacking on this occasion. I approached the bar again at ten to midnight bearing in mind the earlier warning of a midnight closure to be told that I could now only pay by card. The staff had zero interest in myself and indeed other customers who observed being treated in the same manner. I have used the hotel previously and always been happy but the way the bar staff acted needs to be addressed immediately. What was a pleasant stay was spoiled by this total absence of professionalism and I will be looking elsewhere for accommodation on my next visit to Blackpool.Breakfast and other staff I experienced were first class.
