Arrival inside is a little haphazard if you arrive in the evening as we did with a bar in full swing - wasn't sure where to go to register (it's at the end of the bar, furthest from the door).
Room 1, the kingsize, was perfect in every way though the heating was oppressive this was resolved by opening window and turning down the radiator - but some like it hot!
It was clean, had a comfortable bed, decent size coffee mugs(!), and a decent shower but mind the hot water tap on the sink - it is VERY hot!
We had our chocolate Labrador with us - no extra charge and most welcome in the bar but excluded from the part that is a restaurant - and that suited us very well.
Next morning full English breakfast with choice of what you want or don't want (served from 9-10am) and very tasty it was - you could have cereal to start, apple or orange juice, yogurt, etc. Was served a pot of tea and my wife had decaf coffee. And toast quickly followed and then the cooked breakfast. Went down a treat! Breakfast gets a 15 out of 10!
The area is quiet though we stayed during a named storm and could hear the sea roaring from the hotel - but not the room.
Actually, everything was fantastic - staff were sociable too. Great stay. Shame it was just one night.
Would happily recommend The Elmer to stay and if we are back down this neck of the woods we will stay here again. (Thanks to the staff and owner of the Elmer - great job!)
