I arrived very late at midnight and had called the hotel in advance to let them know. They told me not to worry as the night porter would be there to check me in. Friendly staff on site and my check in was a breeze. Nice room, comfy bed etc. There is a bar on site that got till about 3:00 a.m. and the hotel does give full warning of the noise from this club when you book. It was no problem for me. I have stayed at this hotel before and staff have always been lovely. Will definitely return again. Thank you!

Dissapointing, I had booked the best room they have as a 21st Birthday treat for my daughter & her partner, 4 poster bed & jacuzzi bath, I had rung the Hotel in advance to see if they could have breakfast in their room the following morning, the recetion clerk was fantastic nothing was to much he related, & that just to tell reception when they checked in what time they would like it delivered. such a lovely man. That was possibly the only good bit. When they arrived to book in they asked at recetion they were told No!!!!! it was not possible as they did not allow hot food in the bedrooms ???????? That evening we had booked & paid for & meal for dinner out, which the duly went for, wehn the returned The hotel doors were locked and no one was at check in despite having 24hr reception. It was half an hour before they were let in & they were more than chilly by then. They said the room was clean "bonus point" however the jacuzzi bath looked so ancient they decided not to use it. everything creaked in general its possibly time for a refurb & a staff review. I can say how thoroughly dissapointed I was, & what a total waste of money, But hey we live & learn

Good afternoon, Thank you for your feedback and your comments are noted. I apologise for the misunderstanding regarding the room service breakfast. We do deliver breakfast in bed, but it is only continental breakfast not hot food, full English breakfast. Our reception is open 24h and our night porter is on duty after 10.30pm until 7am. When he does the regular security round check through the hotel, our main reception door is locked to avoid anybody just walking in. There is a bell outside for guests to ring. We are sorry if the Jacuzzi bath was not up to your expectation and note your comments regarding the refurbishment. We have recently refurbished our 1812 bar and the bedrooms are going to be done next. We would love to welcome you again in The Royal Exeter Hotel and if you do so, please contact the reception team directly as we will be happy to offer you the best available rate. This hotel has such a great story being the first building in Bournemouth in 1812.. Oscar Wilde was a former guest at the hotel. It's a bit creaky when you walk through the maze of corridors, but that adds to the character of the building. The staff were friendly and courteous. The hotel is under renovation, but they contacted me in advance to give me the heads up. They put me in a quiet room with a view of the English Channel and the Ferris wheel, which I could see from the bed. I loved that I could open the windows as a lot of hotels have some sort of catch on the window. I could smell the sea air and throughly enjoyed this with my coffee the next morning. The bed was comfy and I had a delicious breakfast the next morning. The location is great because everything is right there. You can walk to the shops, restaurants and that gorgeous beach!

I was surprised the external refurbishment was still ongoing, however the rooms were not refurbished but still pleasant and spacious. Shame they don't have a swimming pool but reception happy to ring round for you. Late night bar was good. Short walk to the beach and high St which was great.

Lovely hotel very central for our New Year celebrations. We had a lovely time, the bar and entertainment was first class and the breakfast was very good.

Close to BIC, great for convenience and has its own car park. Staff on reception were fantastic. So helpful

Friendly staff but room was cold. Radiator did not work but there was an oil filled radiator supplied. Floorboards were SO SO noisy
