Hotel was very well situated, however, noise from lots of drunks throughout the night passing by outside was not good. We both found the hotel to be very good

Lovely hotel and location but a bit tired

Pros: Location, staff, especially the car park attendents
Cons: Plumbing!
Location: Very close to beach, pier, city centre and the Laines
We have stayed at the Ship before, quite a few years ago though. Overall we had an enjoyable experience apart from one disappointing situation. On our first day there we returned to the hotel around 7.30pm to get ready to go out for our evening meal and there was no hot water for a bath or shower. There is a sign in the bathroom stating it may take some time for the water to run hot and I left it running for a long time but it never got hotter than warm. I contacted reception who said it may be isolated to our floor (3rd), unlikely, and they would check the temperature on the 2nd floor. However the water was not running hot on this floor either. The hotel eventually compensated us by providing drinks token for the bar rather than refunding some of the cost of the room. I understand that the Ship is the oldest hotel in Brighton but given it's size and room charge I would expect there to be hot water!

Dear Karen, Thank you for your review. One of the boilers did have a fault on, therefore the water run luke warn for 20 minutes. When we made aware, second boiler was turned on and hot water restored. Do apologise for the inconvenience this has caused you.

Ok ok hotel

Yes it’s not bad hotel but I won’t say it’s 4 star. I would class as 2.5 or 3 star. Good points: it’s close to beach. And it has good selection of breakfast. Bad points: Hotel has a garage to park but it’s expensive. It’s average in terms of cleaning and facity.

The bathroom too small. washbasin drainage poor

Pros: Situated at Sea-front.
Cons: Already explained above.
Location: No comments.
Reception staff was very rude and not welcoming, I was refused one-hour early check-in in spite of request during the booking. The bathroom is terribly small. My wife with the heavy body could not sit comfortably on the toilet seat. The toilet tissue is placed awkwardly. there are separate water taps, you cannot have a choice to get mix water. The heating system was not working properly. Overall experience is not good. Not worth recommending to anyone. At least I will never step in.

Dear Hemantkumar , We are sorry to learn, that you found your bathroom small. But Reception cannot take the blame for not proceeding with early check in. There are various factors, why this could had happened. Regarding the taps, we provide very traditional style of accommodation, and I'm disappointed to learn, this was not up to your likings. Kind regards, Miriam, Guest Relations manager

The Old and Shabby Ship Hotel

When we checked in we were not warned there would be a very loud function in the hotel right next to our bedroom. when we phoned down to reception we were told it would go on until 1am and to use the earplugs provided in the room. Then after midnight Room Service knocked on our door by mistake. The room itself was nicely decorated but the bathroom was very tired and grubby. We won't be rushing back! On a good note The Breakfast was very good and the meet and greet lady was brilliant.
