I booked a standard double room as per the photos on the site and the size of 14sqm this was a box room no where near 14sqm that you couldn't walk down one side of the bed and if the bed was pushed 6 inches over you couldnt open the bathroom door.

Nice hotel but facilities could have been better.

Pros: Staff quite helpful and buildiing itself imposing. Nice conservatory.
Cons: Organisation of breakfast.
Location: It is very near opera house, shops etc.
The room was a bit basic and it was a long walk from the lift to the room. The lift was rather old. Breakfast was a bit of a rugger scrum.

Nothing special to say about hotel yes it’s an old Victorian hotel but was looking its age and our room was certainly not worth the cost

Overpriced, tired, nasty, avoid!

Large room smelt of chlorine.WiFi useless (Rm 125). Breakfast OK but cheap ingredients. Dinner very nasty - refused to pay. Service poor. Would never use Britannia hotels again on this experience.

Very expensive for poor quality

Fist of all I checked in and had to pay an extra £9 for parking which was waived last time we stayed in October for a number of guests Then we were told breakfast was not included in the price I had paid which was £164 for two nights. Admittedly this was my fault for not checking but we have stayed before at a lesser cost and had breakfast. Room 159 was next to the fire door and was being banged from around 6am both mornings. Also the yard from the window was noisy from early in the morning with bottles being thrown into bins and barrels being rolled around the yard. We will not be staying again

Great location

Pros: Decor, size of bedroom and comfort of that room. Position close to the main roads and amenities.
Cons: Bathroom could be bit more modern
Location: Excellent location. Visit the gardens, pavilion, old duke's stables, opera House etc
Spent a very comfortable 2 nights in hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was also very comfortable. Hotel extremely well positioned in Buxton. Close to several restaurants and within easy walking distance of many of Buxton's places of interest.

Delightful stay in historic hotel

Our stay for one night was perfect; the room was clean, comfortable and quiet, everything worked, the staff were friendly and the hotel is in a great location in Buxton. I'd thoroughly recommend staying here.

Pros: Centrally located
Cons: A lot- the décor, rooms need an uplift, the staff all need training and the facilities and rooms were all tired and run down.
