Rude owner spoilt our stay
First the positives. It was clean had nice fluffy towels and Caryl was very helpful. However the points which made this a more than disappointing stay are: Mould on the patio door curtains where they had got damp and not been cleaned. Shower door seal was not able to prevent flooding the bathroom every time you had a shower. Paintwork in the room was chipped and old particularly around the doors. Enamel was worn off the bath in places. Kettle did not stop itself when it reached the boil. The thing that was the worst part of our stay and really ruined it for us was the attitude of the owner. We arrived back at about 8:30 on our second night after attending a funeral and wake. We enquired it the kitchen was still serving and if so what was available. The menu was quite limited which was understandable. However as vegetarians there was only one option which neither of us were interested in. The owner then asked the chef if there was anything else and we were offered a goats cheese option which neither of us eat. So we asked if we could just have some chips which were listed as a side on the menu. Her rude response was ‘we don’t do that kind of thing here’ spoken in a very superior snooty tone. This attitude towards a guest is really not acceptable. We did not ask for anything unreasonable I have never experienced such poor service and such attitude in a hotel before. This was not a 5* stay.
