Pleasant stay for one night (Saturday). Comfortable bed and room, upgraded to a club. Although the view isn't the best would go for a room facing west/away from the pedestrian square as could imagine it might be quite loud with passing revelers. Breakfast was plentiful, hot and of good flavour/quality.

We have stayed in this hotel twice before but on this occasion we were very disappointed by the low standard of care for the rooms and the very poor food being served . All Covid safety precautions were in place and we were happy to abide by these rules but to run the hotel in a sub standard manner while charging full rates is unexceptable, service with a attitude that we were a inconvenience to the staff The cleanliness of the room fell far short of our expectations given we had paid for a executive suite the room was dirty the sofa was badly stained,the windows were covered in cobwebs ,the shower controls where broken and the toilet seat was completely off its fixings. These items are easily identifiable when the room is being cleaned and not difficult to fix/repair. We had dinner in the hotel the food had obviously been cooked and poorly reheated the lounge bar was tired and very un-welcoming to the extent that the one member of staff behind the screened bar told us that we could not have the TV changed as she had been instructed by her management , there was only us two in the lounge! Our main disappointment was in the staff response when we reported our issues at the reception the duty manager (Tom) was called to assist. After we explained our concerns with our suite ,he advised that he would inspect the room to check and report back . We waited in reception for over 30mins on his return ,he never returned even asking reception for a update.
