Our stay did not happen because once we had seen the room for a few minutes we left! The first time at the age of 64 & 65 we have ever walked out of accommodation and we ain't the fussy types. I honestly do not know how the owners can charge people for that room. It looked totally dilapidated, old grim looking carpets ( around the toilet as well!), tiny space between toilet and hand basin in front of it, discoloured grim looking shower, unattractive stone wall, furniture that looked like it need scrapping, woodworm in the toilet door, old wallpaper lifting in places, lengths of dust or cobwebs hanging above the bed, cobwebs/dust on the stonewall and chandelier ( and I thought Halloween wasn't until the end of October!), floorboards soft and spongy in places, cold with a small electric heater that wouldn't take the chill off in a month of Sundays. I note other reviewers describe the owners as lovely. The owner we dealt with was frosty (like the room!). Bedding looked clean though.

Dirty ensuite facility with dirty old carpet on floor. unsafe electric with 5 plugs in one socket in room. Paper thin wall between our room and bedroom next door so we could hear them talking until 3.30 so no sleep on night one. Reported this to owner morning after but her response was "You should have told them or come to find me". Its their walls that are at fault. Didn't get room we had been promised as it had been given to someone else who had knocked on the door before we arrived. Window would not open. Awful cheap airfresheners in room to cover up other smells. I have asthma so put them outside room, but they had been put back when we returned to room! Dirty cutlery at breakfast, dirty milk jug, greasy crockery and dirty table mats. Poor quality sausage and inedible hard tomatoes. This establishment needs a visit from environmental health followed by a complete makeover. Car parking not good enough. Only really room for 2 cars Avoid at all costs. Unfit for habitation. Unbelievable what these people are getting away with on the grounds that they have been doing it for 40 years.

Rustic yet grim country abode

Grim yet very good breakfast. Taciturn attention. Little welcome. As if we were being done a huge favour.

Superb location - amazing 17th Century building

Pros: Location, building and the lovely people. Reckon a great place for family on a budget as the owners provide lunch and dinner - low cost for families
Cons: Shower probably needs speeding up but it was at the top of the building.
Location: Walks, Ruskin's View, great shopping. The Sun Inn over the road - fabulous food - highly recommended.
Such lovely people, could not have been more helpful - finding me a vase for my flowers, keeping out purchases in their fridge. Lovely breakfast too The location is just great - right in the middle of this beautiful village. Super value for money too.
