With captivating beaches by day and a world-class club scene by night, Ibiza is a holiday gem at the heart of the Mediterranean Sea. This holidaymakers’ magnet emits an irresistible pull for clubbers and sun lovers – and increasingly culture lovers – from across the world. Located just two and a half hours from the UK by air, it’s little wonder that there are plenty of flights to Ibiza to choose from throughout peak season from a variety of airlines, including Ryanair, EasyJet, British Airways, Monarch and Thomas Cook Airlines. The island has one airport, Ibiza Airport (IBZ), which is well within an hour’s drive of all the resorts and just 15 minutes from Ibiza Town.
Low-cost flights are easily available from airports all across the UK. The lion’s share of the cheapest flights to Ibiza are offered by Ryanair, which flies from eight UK airports, and EasyJet, which flies from six. Monarch Airlines also offers some great prices over the summer from Gatwick, Birmingham and Manchester. But even if low cost is your top priority, make sure you don’t overlook the higher-end flights offered by British Airways. With routes from four London airports, you can often find return flights to Ibiza matching budget airline prices. As it is such a popular destination, cheap tickets to Ibiza do sell quickly for peak season for all airlines, so booking early is your safest strategy to finding those cheap deals.
Ibiza Airport (IBZ) sits on the southern tip of the island within easy reach of the main resorts; just a 10-minute drive from Playa d’en Bossa and 15 minutes from Ibiza Town. The clubbers’ capital, San Antonio, is also around 30 minutes from the airport by car. Shuttle Direct offers coaches and individual door-to-door cars. For Playa d’en Bossa and Ibiza Town, the coach costs around €10 per person and cars around €15 per person. For San Antonio, expect to pay around €15 per person for the coach and €25 per person for a car. Hopping in an un-booked taxi might cost a bit more time in the queue than a pre-booked car, but this option will usually save you some cash, costing (per car) up to around €12 to Playa d’en Bossa, €17 to Ibiza Town and €30 to San Antonio. The Ibiza Airport public bus stop is also right on the doorstep of the airport, and you can reach all of the main resorts for under €5.
Ibiza takes its name from an ancient god of dance – some things never change. But its offerings of culture and nature have really begun to bloom in the consciousness of travellers, with the cooler months being an ideal time to enjoy them. Fly to Ibiza in the winter for a completely different experience – explore the relaxing, uncrowded UNESCO World Heritage Sites at Dalt Vila and the surrounding coastlines under the warm winter sun. Ryanair, EasyJet and British Airways all offer winter flights to Ibiza, for comparable prices to the lower end of peak season.
