Hotel excellent location and really friendly staff unfortunately wing where we were has not been upgraded yet, everything was clean however mattress on bed was terrible and whole room needs upgraded

Dirty dirty dirty! Smelt of stale tobacco smoke. Complimentary buscuits open and half eaten. Receptionist couldnt be bothered to sort things out

Great Location

Pros: The receptionist was extremely helpful & friendly let us our leave our luggage, to go shopping on arrival & departure really helpful.
Cons: The lock on the door was a little temperamental and would be better if fixed room, another guest was at reception to flag up the same problem?
Location: Ideal for overnight trip located close to Chester railway station, and is only a short walk from all that Chester has to offer City Walls Walk is good
My wife and I stayed along with our friends for my wife's birthday, the hotel is ideal for this kind of trip as it is located close to the Chester mainline railway station, and is only a short walk from all that Chester city center has to offer. The hotel receptionist was extremely helpful and friendly we arrived to early to check in but she said we could leave our luggage while we went into town to do some shopping, likewise when we checked out they offered the same facility which is really helpful. Our room was very clean and comfortable the decor was nice albeit it a little dated and the lock on the door was a little temperamental but didn't cause any problem, it just needed a bit of a jiggle with the key. Breakfast was very good and could not be faulted. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anybody visiting Chester.

Receptionist poorly trained. No veggie breakfast options although hotel staff commented that "people often ask that". Room a bit tired and bathroom more so.

Poor quality hotel, definitely not for families.

Pros: Nothing
Cons: Everything.
Location: Chester. Near to train station and about its only saving grace if you were travelling by train.
Several issues spoilt what should have been a lovely stay with my three grandchildren. Firstly, I booked a family room which stated on the website "rollaway beds". There were no rollaway beds, just a large double and a single. My eldest grandchild and I shared the double, this was ok. The younger grandchild had the single. Both beds were extremely high so I was conscious all night of certainly my younger grandson falling out of bed. Definitely not child friendly. The room was boiling hot and there was little ability to open a window as the sash cords were broken and the window would not stay open. We turned the radiator off in the hope of cooling the room. We opened the bathroom window a little. The curtain here was old and dirty and had holes in. The taps did not match on the sink and there was hair in the bath. The taps and shower were far from new on the bath either. The lights did not work in the main bedroom except for the main middle light, hardly conducive in getting two toddlers off to sleep of a nighttime. I could have asked to be moved but I had a lot of gear with me and it would have taken me a long time and a lot of hassle to move to a room where the facilities worked. The most annoying thing of all was this was booked as a family room and I specifically said I had two toddlers when booking. However I was placed in a room right next to the lift which itself was noisy and the people using it even noisier. An awful stay not to be repeated at this hotel, ever.

Hallmark

I paid for a king bed which was 2 singles put together. Staff said changing to a double room would not be as nice and would be smaller than the already small room. The king duvet was also 2 singles put in a king bed cover.

Needs an overhaul!!!

We were given a twin room instead of the executive king double we had booked! The guy on reception apologised and gave us a different which was a twin with the single beds pushed together unevenly!! I then complained to general manager Gareth, who was lovely, very apologetic, explained this was common practise and said he would sort us out a topper that they put over the 2 singles so that it would be even. He did give me and my husband a complimentary bottle of prosecco whilst we waited, but i do not believe that advertising as an "executive king room" and then giving us a twin with the beds pushed together is acceptable!! Why did i pay extra for an "executive king room" and not just pay for a twin??

Hallmark hotel

The whole hotel needs a refurb as the general condition of the rooms are very poor, especially for the price they charge. It's extremely expensive for the bad quality you receive. The bed was hard and uncomfortable. The carpet was dirty and smelt bad. The shower curtain was filthy and the shower itself barely worked.
