Overall, it served it's purpose. I wanted 2 rooms for my father and I in a hotel close to Mansfield, well priced, near to the M1 as I was travelling in rush hour and priced correctly. It did fit all of those requirements. However, upon arrival the rooms were ice cols, nobody had turned the thermostats on for us. The 2nd room had a broken thermostat and i will give them their dues, they upgraded my father without quibble to a suite. My room had a Triple bed, looked great but the mattress was cheap and I could feel the wooden base of the bed when I knelt on the edge to get in. The lino floor in the bathroom was coming up all around the edges due to water damage, and the shower spotlight was flickering on and off like a strobe light. During the night there was so much noise in the hotel I was woken several times. I think if this was a purpose built hotel and not a converted row of houses the noise would have been prevented by soundproofing during the build. I could hear every footstep in the corridor, every door slam, and loud conversation in the rooms next to me even at 2 in the morning. Breakfast does not open until 8am, so if you are planning to be efficient, you will need to get breakfast elsewhere. As i said, it serves a purpose but I did stay in the Nottingham Doubletree Hilton the week before for less money and couldn't fault it except for the rush hour traffic. There is just no comparison. This place needs to be cheaper or they need to update and improve it.
