Great location, a little tired for money spent

Staff were very pleasant. Building is lovely and clearly very old (squeaky floors etc). Our room had wallpaper peeling off fairly significantly, the bed was too firm for us so was an uncomfortable sleep (appreciate this may be a personal choice so some may prefer this!) and the radiator temperature control knob was broken which was difficult on a cold night. There was a separate electric heater however but wasn't as powerful. The room was very clean, as was the bathroom and towels etc. The hotel location was perfect for our needs.

Comfortable lakeside hotel with its own jetty.

It was our 25 Silver Wedding Anniversary treat to ourselves to stay here for a weekend. The hotel was comfortable, our room was a spacious en-suite with four poster frame, one window had views of the hills (Old Man Coniston) and the other window overlooked the lake. We wanted to stay for 3 course dinner from a tempting menu but they only catered for 6 people in hourly sittings and they were fully booked! The hotel has its own jetty for the Coniston steamboat Gondola and other launches to dock at. There was a large picnic area in the grounds near to the lakeside. Ideal for families too. The hotel had dog friendly rooms too. They had a sitting room where the owners could sit with their dogs. We enjoyed our stay here very much and would come again.
