The purpose of us booking this was for the spa. The outside jaccuzzi wasnt in use and the sauna doesnt get hot.

A beautiful hotel in gorgeous surroundings. Ideally located for Matlock, Chatsworth, Bakewell, Buxton etc. Gorgeous decorated bedrooms with everything you require, tea/ coffee making facilities. We were greeted by lovely, helpful staff on the reception and this followed through by every member of staff we met in the hotel. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in the area and I will definitely be back.

Neither luxury nor family friendly. Dangerous balcony with horizontal railings shaped like a ladder; playground has a sign saying unsaafe and not to use; pool is adults only (though you only learn that on arrival); highchair dirty and insert filthy; bath mat dirty; travel cot has plyboard "mattress"; family rooms in a 80s style holiday camp building far away with long corridors, many stairs and doors (no lift or offer of assistance). Complained on 1st day and told manager would be told and I'd hear from them on 2nd day. Nothing. Emailed that evening. Nothing. Informed manager of issues on check out and promised a callback the same day. Nothing. Reception staff (except Hayley) largely disinterested. Waiting staff lovely. Stayed in more luxurious Premier Inns etc.

We were in the annex and although the room was lovely the corridor is a bit outdated and could be tidied up a little.

Lovely friendly staff and a very comfortable night's sleep. Couple of points that are negative though. We were in the annex which doesn't feel very special, bit like a field studies centre in the corridor, although the room itself was nice. Quite a bit of black mould around handles in the bath and in the grouting. Rest of room lovely and clean though. I would stay again if I was in Matlock though.

Great location, the hotel was easy to find and in lovely grounds with a pool which we only noticed in the morning as we had arrived at night. We had a bargain...and suspected we might be in the ‘annexe’ which was a bit of a walk from reception though a car park and additional entrance is near those rooms. I wondered if it might be a bit ‘tired’ as the annexe was not the prettiest of areas but we were pleasantly surprised with a large modern room in restful grey tones, a huge comfy bed, a seating area with easy chairs and a big bathroom which was spotlessly clean. Big soft towels too. There was also a small furnished balcony overlooking the pool. We did not eat there as it was busy that night and the next morning we were at a race in Carsington so didn’t book breakfast. The food looked nice and some good vegetarian choices. Would def stay again!

Ideal location, and wonderful views

We stayed B and B , and the food choice was excellent, my only gripe is that they don’t do full English breakfast. No complaints about hotel, room or staff, all above expectations. Will be staying again.

This is a great relaxing hotel

The hotel has been recently refurbished with a real modern feel to it. The rooms are comfortable and modern, and it has a lovely garden at the back which you can sit out in and a soon to be opened outdoor swimming pool. For us what stood out was the amazing food we ate in both the brassiere and the restaurant where they do a tasting menu for £60 which definitely should not be missed. There is a spa, but we could not get booked in, as we left it too late but plan to go back as this hotel is ideally situated to enjoy the Derbyshire countryside and place like Chatsworth.
