We arrived late and things didn't get off to a good start, we found other guests in our room! we left the reception staff to sort things out while we had a drink, we were hungry and initially told there was no food available, we managed to get a couple of rounds of sandwiches at a cost of £22!! Having been allocated another room, we found the next morning that the door didn't lock properly. We were duly moved again to an upgraded room, slightly bigger with nice view. Beds were very comfortable Things settled down and we enjoyed the remainder of our stay. Leisure facilities were very good, nice pool. Breakfast was plentiful although finished smart at 10.00 and it did get busy at times with the hot food running short. Situated at the bottom of the Royal Mile it wasn't an issue for us to walk in to the city centre.

Average hotel

Hotel overall was good. Very disappointed with restaurant, came back to hotel at 6.30 ish to nearly empty restaurant tried to get a table was nearly given one until we mentioned 2 year old son, only table available 9.30!! Came back to hotel around 7.45 to still almost empty restaurant!! Disappointing as we felt only reason we could not have a table was because we had a child. Breakfast was very disappointing also.

Nice hotel, close to all the major attractions

Pros: close to all the major attractions, friendly staff, nice food, clean rooms.
Cons: no
Location: Easy walking distance to Holyrood palace and edinburgh castle, princes street, easy walking distance.
We were only there for 2 days, but got to see alot in those days. Up to Edinburgh Castle, easy enough to get in, queue moved fast, friendly staff. Great venue, lots to see. on the following day we went to holyrood castle, also easy to get around, staff very helpful. Walked over to Princes Street, found lovely gardens to see. A very busy but enjoyable few days.

Great hotel with easy access to the city

Pros: Staff couldn't do enough for us. Easy check in and out - nothing too much trouble. Thank you
Cons: Codes on the leisure facility lockers in the ladies area were not working.
Location: Great access to Edinburgh's shopping and restaurants.
We arrived early and were able to park and leave our luggage with the concierge so that we could start our Edinburgh break. The room was bright, spacious, comfortable and very clean. We took full advantage of the pool, steam and spa all of which were very clean.

Lovely relaxing trip

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights with the breakfast option. The room was large and well appointed. It had a coffee machine and other hot beverage making facilities along with bottled water. The bed was huge and comfortable - not two pushed together singles. The room was next to the lifts on the sixth floor but we weren't disturbed at all by any noise. The bathroom had a big walk in shower with both standard and rainfall shower heads. There was plenty of hot water, towels, bathrobes and slippers. There was no bath which my partner missed but no biggy for me ( prefer showers). Complimentary bath products and flannels were provided. The room was warm enough for us although as mentioned in other reviews the aircon was not working. Breakfast was excellent with a large variety of both cereals, continental and cooked options including black pudding and scotch potato cakes. The service throughout the hotel was excellent from check-in to checkout. I would and intend to stay here again
