wunderschöner Ort, leider in lärmiger Umgebung

Location: Die "Old Hall" liegt einige Autominuten ausserhalb des sehr sehenswerten Städtchens Ely mit einer der schönsten Kathedralen Englands.
Wir haben im Oktober vier Mal die Nacht verbracht. Am Ankunftstag erreichten wir Old Hall gegen 13 Uhr mit einem Auto voller Gepäck. Gerne hätten wir die Koffer dort untergestellt. Uns wurde aber mitgeteilt, das sei nicht möglich. Einchecken erst ab 16 Uhr; es sei schliesslich ein B&B und kein Hotel. Wir zogen also wieder ab mit dem gesamten Gepäck und verbrachten die Wartezeit in Ely. Als wir dann etwas vor 16 Uhr wieder zurückkamen, wurden wir freundlich empfangen. Das Haus wurde in den letzten Jahren komplett und aufwändig renoviert in elegantem englischem Landhausstil. Wir erhielten ein wirklich schönes Zimmer für 3 Personen im 2 Stock, leider ohne Aufzug. War etwas schwierig mit unseren schweren Koffern. Das Personal hat uns aber geholfen. Nachher gab es Tee und Kuchen. Die erste Nacht war schwierig trotz sehr guten Betten: Von der nahen Hauptstrasse kam fast die ganze Nacht hindurch sehr viel Autolärm. Nur so zwischen 2 und 4 Uhr war es etwas ruhiger. Die Fenster sind zwar sehr hübsch, bieten aber keinerlei Lärm- oder Wärmeisolation. Beim Frühstück gibt es eine zwar eher kleine, aber ausgesprochen leckere Auswahl mit oder ohne "English Breakfast". Die weiteren Nächte haben wir besser geschlafen. Es trat wohl bereits ein gewisser Lärmgewöhnungseffekt auf. Insgesamt können wir "Old Hall" nur bestens empfehlen. Ich habe bei der Gesamtbeurteilung einen Punkt abgezogen wegen des Strassenlärms. Bei einem nächsten Mal würden wir nur ein Zimmer auf der Gartenseite akzeptieren
