We stayed in Castle part. Room was nice. 4 poster bed bed with good views. Forgot to leave tea cups and for a premium room there was robe but no slippers. One bit of shortbread between 2 people. No water. I asked a staff member for water and he told me yo get it from the bathroom tasp! I said there were no cups in the room so he reluctantly got me water from the bar. Breakfast was average. Usual big hotel buffet.

Stayed here for a wedding. No WiFi in the castle itself. No fridge or phones in some rooms. Rooms in the hotel itself are very like premier inn standard.

Our stay at airth castle was very disappointing. On arrival the place looked very impressive but when we got to our room it was like walking back in time , I found the room very dated and dirty with dust also evidence of the last person who stayed , I was horrified when I walked into the bath room to discover the paint on the ceiling above the shower was flacking off ! very dissatisfied with the quality for money paid as it averages 150 pounds per night. The hotel needs a complete renovation on all of the rooms to bring them back into this century before I would even reconsider giving the place a chance again.

Extremely Disappointed

Shocked & disappointed at the standard of these hotel rooms for the price they charge per night. Rooms were very dull & plain. Shower was a pipe hanging from the ceiling and lock was hanging off one of the drawers. Carpets were dirty with stains, TV remotes did not work and backs were hanging off of them. Walking along the corridor light bulbs were hanging with wires coming down. I cannot believe this as this is extremely dangerous and should be picked up by health & safety checks. We paid £130 for this room and I have no idea how this hotel can justify the standard of rooms provided. Very false advertisement from pictures on websites. Will definitely not be returning to stay here & would not recommend to anyone.

Fabulous stay

Pros: The wonderful grounds, pleasant staff and good service.
Cons: Some parts of the castle decor need attention.
Location: Easy to reach the Falkirk Wheel and the Kelpies. Not too far from Edinburgh or Stirling if you like shopping.
I booked a Deluxe King Size room as a birthday surprise for my husband and we were not disappointed. We arrived at check in a bit early but the reception staff made us very welcome . Our room was huge, the four poster bed was really comfortable and the views from the windows delightful. Unfortunately, the Windows don't open and the room was very warm even though the heating was off. That would be a bonus in the winter I guess! You have to book a table for dinner as the restaurant is very popular but we had no trouble getting a nice table for 2, good choices on the menu and the waiting staff are happy to accommodate any special requests. We didn't use the spa but the leisure pool was good with a Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna which were both quiet. Some reviews we read mentioned the poor decor and there is no doubt some older parts of the castle are a bit dated but this didn't deter us from having a great stay. Definitely recommended.

Disappointing

Arrived at the hotel which looks lovely from the outside and the foyer was nice apart from the full sized horse lamp which I thought was bizarre. The person on the desk seemed to be suffering a cold and wasn't very welcoming, no conversation and wiping nose. The room was dingy 2 lights not working, mould in the bathroom, shower hose was ripped and potentially could cut someone. The bed was like sleeping on a bag of rocks and the best way to describe the decor was dated. The bedroom was clean though. Bedding was very poor. It was a far cry from the rooms advertised on the website so I would recommend specifying a room. On departure the same female took my key card without even a good morning or asking how our stay was. Normally I wouldn't write a bad review but the owners need to know what their customers think because the staff are clearly disengaged apart from the young man who got me some fried eggs which incidentally was the only warm part of the breakfast. Such a pity after hearing some good reports about the place

Great 2 night stay

We stayed for 2 nights for a special birthday my husband had called to say what it was for and they had a bottle of champagne and strawberries in our room lovely touch. The staff I thought were really great and so attentive. The main hotel has beautiful reception and restaurant was very nice to, yes some of the rooms do need upgraded but as staff mentioned the hotel is so busy with weddings etc they can only do a few at a time. Overall really enjoyed our stay and would return without hesitation.
