Very good hotel in a central position

Pros: The number and professionalism of the staff; location; the building itself.
Cons: Beer on draught and coffee making machines in the rooms.
Location: Excellent location, just across the road from the central bus station and with a taxi rank in front. It was a short walk into the centre of the city.
From the moment of arriving at the front door we were attended by courteous and efficient staff. The hotel has had a recent refurbishment and is immaculate throughout. The breakfast buffet was very comprehensive and of good quality and had plenty of staff to ensure that you were well looked after. The food and drink in the evening was similarly very good although, as expected, at a premium price (there are many other places to eat close by). The room was spacious, well appointed and comfortable with all the things you would expect to find - the complimentary mini bar was a nice touch.

First Time Visit

A great experience for my wife and I. The hotel met our expectations and knew in advance that it is to undergo a major refurbishment in November. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

poor, tired hotel Phonecia

Phoenicia was once probably one of the best hotels in Malta, due to its grand style and location to Valletta. However, although the reception and grand entrance are grand and stylish, the other aspects of the property are very disappointing. The gardens are okay leading to the pool, but once you arrive at the pool the area is a let-down...old sunbeds with grubby tables, the pool water was like old bath water. It was so murky that i love to swim but would never take a chance in dirty water like that, i would have been sick for a week.A pal who was travelling with us ordered a mocktail and it was undrinkable.We ordered water and the plastic cups were dirty and smelled awful. Consequently, we never went near the pool again. As for the room, the entrance door was dirty, full of weeks worth of old handprints, so not a good start..the windows were dirty, the bathroom tired with loose floor tiles and cracked tiles on the wall...all the chrome fittings are pitted and need replacing..towels were erratically changed..we had one bathrobe in a twin room...overall, for the cost, the quality was worse than poor for the hotel..we were not asked at check-out for any kind of feedback, as i was more than willing to describe the experience we had..very,very below standard, and we are not pleased...

A lovely break

We stayed 5 nights with the Phoenicia and loved it. Great location. The staff are wonderful and very helpful, food is good, room and facilities commendable. It's even dog friendly!

Very pleasant and ideal if wanting to travel around Malta and also very convenient for Valletta and all their restaurants. Very helpful but cheaper to arrange things for yourself
