We've stayed at this property many times, but this time might be the last. There were several super courteous and helpful staff and if it wasn't for them, our stay would have been horrendous. This hotel isn't cheap and it's nice because there's a pool, but they don't allow kids in the pool after 7:30 because they care more about their local clientele than they do traveling guests. Some of the employees are rude and incredibly unapologetic about it. It's quite shocking, and they outright lie and make things up. One of the guys at the front desk, the night we arrived, said the kids weren't allowed in the casual pub area after 8:30pm, which I found out was a lie, it's 10:30pm. The hotel is falling apart. The shower leaked out the door every time we used it. The elevator is rickety and broke down several times while we were there. ...There's so much, but at the end of the day, this was the first time we stayed where we didn't feel welcome. They didn't want us there and that's how it felt.

    Great value,lovely hotel. Definitely return

While area is pretty, its a good half hour drive from Glasgow, so no use for a Glasgow-based stay. Hotel very attractive. Room was for family. Instead of sofabed and double bed,we had 2 huge beds, which was a bonus. Lights dim, reading lamp not functional and couldnt be used next to chair!? Breakfast layout lovely, but i found my cooked food(buffet) quite cold, even though we were down first. There was a great selection of hot and cold food, good quality. Waitresses very helpful. Pool area was great, with magazines to read while relaxing and a lovely looking spa. I'd like to return in springtime; there was a lovely country park and zoo nexg door. We didn't dine in hotel as was busy and bar menu not really Child-friendly. Reception staff were mixed- much nicer in evening, bit dismissive with us and other couples leaving at same time in morning. Too busy chatting together! Not great, ignoring our goodbyes! Overall, I would really recommend the Crutherland. Gripes were very minor for such a beautiful stay.

    Mostly good

Overall nice hotel - the rooms are a good size with a spacious bathroom with both shower and bath. Standard Freeview TV channels and a comfy bed, food was nice but not great - we only ate in the cocktail bar though so we didn't try the actual restaurant which would be much nicer I imagine! I removed points as the decor is a little dated and they could probably do with an update for more modern tastes, and also a housekeeper tried to come into our room in the morning despite having a do not disturb sign on the door and if we hadn't had the door locked they would have which would have been a major invasion of privacy! If we were to stay in East Kilbride again I would probably book the Torrance ahead of the Crutherland but this is still a very nice hotel! Just make sure you lock your doors.
