Needs small touches updated

Lovely hotel but the mugs in my room were stained and chipped. The bath mat had mildew around the suction grips. The dinner was diappointing soup of the day was horrid the tomato soup was the worse I have tasted it looked and tasted like tomatoe puree with hot water. The chips were soggy the tomato and red onion salad was very poor quality badly presented and not fresh so other than the restaurant needing major improvements for the money you spend it was a decent stay

Extremely disappointing stay

Pros: The oldish waitress lady, she was lovely and always very polite and helpful.
Cons: All of the above!
Location: Location wise - middle of a council estate, nothing to do around the hotel, we had to drive for miles for things to do and restaurants etc.
On arrival we had to wait for our room to be cleaned, that was fine except when we got into the room there were beetles all around the room, that was clean. There were stains on the white bedding and the pillows were very heavily stained too. At breakfast my partner found a very large vein in her sausage and I found a piece of bone in the bacon. We only ate toast and cereal for breakfast for the rest of the stay. We had one evening meal in the hotel, and what a waste of money that was. I had the beef rib, which on arrival was a bone with fat on, the chips were sweet potato (not advertised as this) and stone cold. I sent this back and eventually they agreed to not charge me for my meal but offered no replacement so I went to bed very hungry that night. My partner had the Lamb Tagine, the flavours were good but it must have been mistaken for a vegetarian dish as there was no meat in it. The waiters that night were very rude. There was a waitress who worked every morning on breakfast and she was a super star and so lovely (the best thing about this place). A request for a glass of Pinot Grigio at the bar, they ran out, sent someone to the cellar to get a new bottle, came back with the wrong one, only to tell me that they had none left, I heard him say he wasn't going back down to the cellar. Too much effort. They did not refund the extra when they gave me a cheaper wine. The spa was full of kids messing about all day, if you wanted to use the spa you had to go after 6?

Tired rooms, smelly hallways amd poor housekeeping

I was expecting a peaceful and relaxing stay over the three nights booked at the hotel, unfortunately I was disappointed. Booked from the 16th to 19th Jan 2017 and allocated a room with broken heating, broken light, TV not working, broken cupboard damaged desks, sunken mattress, broken shower, broken cupboard door, smoking guests in next room, rusting and old shower rail and curtain, damaged shower fitting, broken extraction and noisy rooms. All made for a depressing stay at the hotel, and i do feel ripped of especially when I raised the issues with staff and got no where. I really can't think of any positive about my stay at this hotel except that it was close to my workplace.

It was local to visit family.

Pros: Location, quiet area, no traffic.
The room was fine but lacked a shaving mirror, room safe and a fan was the air conditioning. Food for breakfast was average but adaquate. Good parking facilities.

Weekend Trip

The Gloucester central hotel definitely lives up to its name, situated right in the heart of Gloucester. The shops are on the doorstep and the restaurants, bars and cinema at the quays is only a short 15 minute walk away. The room I stayed in was a good size with TV, free WiFi and fridge and microwave which, while unusual at first was actually really useful and a good idea. It was well kept and I had no complaints at all. The hotel is clean and modern which ensured my girlfriend and I had an enjoyable stay. I would definitely recommend it and I'm staying again this weekend!

couple getaway

Lovely stay. Swimming pool and jacuzzi were good. Only negative was the bar was over priced for both food and drinks.
