Good location, however, crappy room did not provide the promised Manhattan sky line view. Previous stays prior to the merger were so much more enjoyable. Our expectations were met in the past.

Not Sheraton Worthy

When you think of the name Sheraton you have some kind of expectations, which unfortunately this hotel does not match. Terrible airco unit very loud, next to the bed, I catched a cold. Ladies bathrooms next to restaurant, one had broken seat and other broken lock on door. And travelling to the other side to get to Manhattan is annoying. Next time I will stay in Manhattan itself.

Wonderful Hotel

We had 2 rooms, one with 2 twin beds and 1 with a kingsize bed. Both rooms were very large and had 2 seperate areas, 1 for the bedroom and another for a lounge area, the bathrooms were equipped very well and the rooms had 2 large flat screen tv's, we did not really need them as we were out all the time, but it was nice to have the option to use them. The restaurant and bar is attached to the hotel and has a predominatly Itailian menu, which we enjoyed on most of the days of our stay. We did not use most of the hotel's facilities, as we were out and about all day, however, there is a Water Taxi dock right outside the Hotel, which takes you into New York and then a free bus into the centre of the town, we loved our stay and the Staff were friendly and helpful, I cannot praise them enough for making our stay really wonderful and a trip we will remember for a long time.

Christmas in New York

We had a suite with an undescribable view of Manhatten. New York is a very expensive place for accomodation but this hotel offers a perfect compromise. It is right next to the ferry to NY city and the bus stops outside the hotel if you want to save more money. We could not fault the hotel or the restaurant and the staff were first class. If you do chose the Sherton Lincololn Harbour (and you should) then I would advise you to select one of the rooms with a view.

What a location.

Excellent hotel, friendly & helpful staff, view from City Skyline rooms is just like a postcard, had to pinch ourselves, directly opposite Empire State Building with views to Lower Manhattan as well. Rooms very clean and to a high standard, Starbucks coffee provided in rooms. Two large TV's, BOSE radio/alarm, safe, USB power points in room. Internet access in lobby. Food outlets/restaurant within 100 yards. Very peaceful location Bus stop 100 yards from hotel entrance to Port Authority bus stop in Manhattan (one block from Times Square) 10- 15 min journey, very frequent and safe (buy books of 10+ tickets from hotel or other outlets). Ferry adjacent to hotel 5 min crossing then bus to several locations (buy books of 10+ tickets from hotel or other outlets). New Jersey Light Railway 300 yards from hotel for access to other parts of New Jersey e.g. Liberty State Park for the Statue Of Liberty (no queues this side) and access to PATH railway station. Taxi from Newark $55.

fabulous experience

Friendly, staff go out of their way to assist you with anything you might need. Me and my Mum has a twin room, 2 king size luxury beds, 2 TVs ha ha and huge room. Comfortable, very clean and amazing view. 2 mins away from NY on the ferry which comes and goes every 15 minutes right outside the hotel. Would recommend to anyone and would definatetly return-from a very picky and critical reviewer.

Pretty much perfect!

I was a little nervous at the start about getting across to NY, but the transport links are amazing and the staff were really helpful when asked numerous questions about this! Our room was exactly what we wanted! We had a beautiful view of Manhattan, along with a large suite! The only negative thing I would say is not about the hotel, as we loved this, but about the restaurant attached. We ate a few times but one occasion the service was extremely poor. Having picked a pudding, i was surprised when something different arrived. Upon asking why this was, I was informed that our waiter had taken the "executive decision" to order another choice that we had spoken about earlier. This is a bad reflection on the restaurant and not the hotel. I would recommend everyone I know to stay at this hotel! We will be booking again for sure! Thank you once again

You Could not choose a better capital city location!

This hotel is truly a wonderful experience. Don't let reviews that say it is a long way from the city put you off! It’s a 5 minute $9 dollar crossing on the ferry with a wonderful view of New York as you cross, or its a 10 minute $3 ride on the bus to the port authority. If you get a room with a view, the Empire state building is right in front of you and each night you get an exceptional view of Manhattan by night. Better that any view from many much more expensive hotels in Manhattan. Oh, and least I not forget, the staff are truly wonderful. They could not have been more helpful. I was there with my wife to celebrate my 50th birthday. They could not have been more helpful. If you stay here, take advantage of the views. When you are ready to leave, cross on the ferry with your bags and take the courtesy bus to the New York Sheraton.(sister hotel) You can store your bags here and enjoy the rest of the day (if you have a late flight home). For your return to JFK airport it is $108 from Lincoln Harbor in a taxi, but only $50 from the other side! I cannot rate this hotel highly enough! This was my first time I New York, what a wonderful introduction using this hotel!

This hotel is clean and modern; has excellent helpful staff; and has fantastic views of the Manhattan skyline. VIEWS ------ I upgraded to a New York city skyline view suite, and was given a room on the fifth floor. The view was excellent and gave clear views directly east toward the Chrysler building, New Yorker hotel, and Empire State building; clear views all the way south toward wall street and the South Ferry area (Statue of Liberty is not visible from the hotel); the view to the north shore of Manhattan is slightly obscured by a pier of private residences but the skyline can still be seen above them. Rooms higher than the fifth floor might have slightly improved views to the north. TRANSPORT TO MANHATTAN --------------------------- On weekdays ferries leave so frequently from just outside the hotel frontage that you never have to wait long - every ten to fifteen minutes or so; and you get to look at Manhattan over the Hudson while you wait so... I have to say that in fine summer weather, I can think of no better way to start the day than a quick, efficient, beautiful ferry trip across the Hudson. On weekends the hotel provides a shuttle to Port Imperial on the Newark side which ferries you to the same mid-town destination on the Manhattan shore. Interestingly, the ferry is not even that busy during peak commuting hours, and the crowds are generally travelling in the opposite direction to what you might expect. So in the morning the crowds are getting off the ferry at the hotel arriving in Newark, leaving you a quiet trip in to Manhattan; and in the evening when you want to come back to the hotel, the crowds are again getting off in Manhattan, leaving you plenty of seats to choose from back to Weehawken. After you get off a ferry on the Manhattan side there are free buses to various locations waiting by the kerb, ready to bring you up-town, mid-town, or down-town. Free bus transfer to Time Square, or Penn Station, or the Empire State building, or... So check which street you want to go to on your map, and then check the small advertising boards on the sidewalk by the buses to check where they are going. The staff on the ferries and buses are friendly and helpful and willing to answer questions about directions. DOWNSIDES? ------------- For me the location and view were perfect, and I suspect families will love the location also. It is a perfect place to watch 4th July Fireworks as long as they're on the Hudson rather than the East River... However, if you want to be able to walk out of your hotel at midnight and experience Manhattan night life then this is obviously a more awkward location. In fact there isn't much happening within walking distance of the hotel on the Newark side either. And keep in mind that ferries stop at 10 to 10:30, so if you plan a late night then yellow cabs from Manhattan will cost in the region of $50. I got quoted $45 fixed price from Penn Station to the hotel, but if it is really late and the traffic has died down, then you might be cheaper on the clock. A limo to Penn Station organised by the hotel was for a fixed price of $55. I don't think these prices are out of the ordinary, but they are quite expensive considering how short the trip really is through the Lincoln tunnel. (There is a toll through the Lincoln tunnel which they factor in to their price - but the toll is only charged one way - they do NOT have to pay two tolls. But you have to pay for the taxi's toll no matter which direction you are travelling.) Note that the taxi from Newark airport to the hotel from the official airport rank which quotes and prints the price before you get in a taxi, charged me $52. [Beware of any Newark airport taxi driver who tries to take the price ticket from you when you get in the cab, and then claims you have to pay more because of tolls.] Internet access was not included in my booking fee, and as with many hotels nowadays, it was ridiculously expensive for in room Wi-Fi. I bought an ...
