A touch of history

We had an overnight stay at the Carrington in a junior suite (Lady Carrington suite) which was furbished in a period style. The room was comfortable and had adequate facilities. The Carrington was chosen due to the central location. Walking into the Carrington is like travelling back in time. The decor and atmosphere do not disappoint, the welcome from and service by reception staff, bar staff and restaurant staff on the evening service, was excellent. The whole experience in the "fine dining restaurant", food quality, presentation and service could embarrass a number of restaurants that purport to be high end. OK the downsides to the Carrington. Rooms being furnished in a period style means limited space in the free standing wardrobe, adequate for 2 or 3 nights stay. The buffet breakfast was quite poor by any standard and the level of staffing and service was abysmal; queuing for a table at 9:30 when checkout is due at 10:00 just because tables have not been cleared is a farce. So conclusion, thoroughly enjoyed our stay, would happily return and recommend to anyone who enjoys nostalgia, however, get down to breakfast early.
