Clean, bright and beautifully appointed hotel. The staff were very helpful and friendly at all times. The only problem I had was the shower over the bath, it was narrow and the panel was too short to prevent water splashing onto the floor.

A lovely and well-maintained hotel with very nice staff. We much enjoyed the food (breakfast and dinner), and the dining area - one of the very few places that got both the selection and volume of music just right! The spa area is nice enough, although on the small side. There are no bath robes or slippers provided, but you can change right in the spa area. For those without cars - the location is within walking distance of Kendal's centre, and about 35 minutes from Oxenholme Station. Some Lake District tour operators will pick you up from Kendal.

arrival-booked through ebookers-breakfast included-told it was not. Breakfast inlcuded on ebookers webiste on all four booking options-said we could have the buffet breakfast (it was not brilliant as it turned out) or pay £6 each for the full breakfast. Contacted ebookers,to their credit they refunded us the £24 for the full breakfast - which was very good. Arrival - no one on receiption- a little wait - not a big issue. Hotel had maybe 15 German tourists staying in a small bus therefore all eat at once. On Saturday there was not enough staff there to coupe with the German group and the rest of us - there was one poor lad. We had to wait 30 minuntes to get tea and coffee ordered, during which two other members of staff arrived, and service resumed at an acceptable pace. Check become a tad irritating. Hotel has just beome a Best Western Signature Collection hotel. Unable to confirm that I had paid direct with ebookers, not my issue, I wanted to pay for the one evening meal we had and the drinks, and the breakfast - we eventually managed to do that I am still confused why it was an issue - it should not have been. Hotel was stuffy, no aircon 24 deg, room had no fan. Room large okay, bed good, bathroom good, but next to kitchen extractor and staff standing outside chatting. Hotel has 30 odd rooms, dining room cannot handle 30 rooms, so some people could not find a table for breakfast. Just become a Best Western Signtaure collection - more work needs doing and managment.

Thank you for your review and we will take your comments on board. Yes breakfast is a busy time if everyone comes down at once. We normally suggest that people avoid the busier times at breakfast and I am sure you were well looked after once a table has been cleared and reset for you.
