Ups and Downs

The Gateway is a good hotel. Despite what I am about to say overall I would recommend it to someone looking for a modern, clean business-style quality place to stay in Kochi. However from the moment we arrived how we felt about it swung from good to bad continually. For example the food at breakfast was really good - huge choice and tasty - but as soon as we tried an evening buffet there was less choice and the food was not as good. The service on reception was excellent and the room cleanliness good but our key failed to work on five occasions resulting in long periods locked out waiting for a man to fix it. Generally the bell boys responsible for the gate onto Marine Drive were really on the ball and came with the key when you wanted to go in or out. However the one time we arrived back in torrential rain we rang the bell several times and no-one came - we stood and got completely soaked. They have what looks like a great swimming pool - but it is so shallow it is difficult to swim properly in it! However the people on reception and in the restaurant are lovely and whilst the Gateway in Kochi (Taj group) didn't match up to the Taj Palace in Mumbai it was a pleasant place to stay - we felt safe and looked after.

Hotel mit überdurchschnittlich kompetentem Persona

Pros: Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis für dieses Hotel ist ausgezeichnet. Für das Restaurant gilt dies allerdings nicht.
Ausgezeichneter und beeindruckend effizienter Empfang. Gefreut haben wir uns über die vom Hotel offerierte 90-minütige Bootsfahrt zum Hafen und zum Fort Kochi. Bei schönster Abendstimmng war das ein Genuss.
