Room was terrible, old and run down. Carpet was bumpy all over, dirty curtains in the bathroom windows, the bathroom floor grimy..dirty grout...horrid dirty, old bathroom door at the corners - must be changed. To top it all off they have the heating on a timer so when we were ready to sleep it was off and cold they had to bring an extra duvet as Reception said they had no more portable heaters. At £118 for the night absolutely shocked at the amount of issues and the condition of the rooms. Appalling. If it wasn't a one night stay would've demanded my money back and gone elsewhere!

The hotel had no view and thus very claustrophobic - looked into a small courtyard with other rooms nearby... and it was the last room in the hotel so we had to walk far. after getting off the elevator............. would have liked to know some of this ahead of time before we booked

Decor.tired. Room noisy. Car park full due to an event but h hotel never gave prior warning. Whole place needs upgrading. Very disappointing given the price.

Stylish hotel

Good location, very close to train station and everything in city centre. The room rate is reasonable and the staff are very helful. Rooms are good size and beds are comfortable. Bothrooms vet clean and nice

Great location and nice staff let down dated room

Pros: Location and staff.
Cons: Condition of the rooms - they need to be modernised fully and checked for repairs!
Location: Right in the centre of town so go and explore!
The staff and location of the hotel are great, however I was surprised at the condition of the rooms that were meant to have been modernised recently as they felt very half way modernised. The room only had 3 plug outlets, 1 of which was caved into the hole in the wall and therefore un-uable as well as looking messy. The bathroom was very dated and shower was not very nice - I have never seen poor and not terribly clean looking shower curtains in a 4 star hotel... Its very pricey for what you get and I felt I was slightly ripped off by the room rate vs. the description on the booking listing and condition of the room.

A very nice Hotel

Very clean and tidy since the refurbishment but the only down side was the lighting in our room, not all of the spots lights were working and one was very insecure which made the room slightly darker then it needed to be. Shower head wasn't sercurly fixed to the wall but all in all a good room. They also stop serving coffee in the bar area from 11.30pm if you want a late cup of coffee you will have to make it I your room.

Perfect Stay

With onsite parking the stay started well and when you walk into the foyer you can see history everywhere. The Receptionists were fast, polite and informative and booking in took a few minutes. We had room on the 5th floor- a Skyroom. Bit difficult if we had taken my disabled mother there as the lift only goes to the 4th floor due to the age of the building so not sure how the Hotel would cope if you are disabled! However, when we got into our room everything was beautifully clean and well presented and the bathroom had a lovely double shower. The curtains were blackout and certainly did their job!! Evening meals looked quite expensive so we walked outside and within a few 100 yards either way meals can be bought- but it is a 4* Hotel so perhaps reasonable really! Now Breakfast is another story! Well worth every penny! Breakfast staff lovely and friendly, basically eat as much as you can- so I did and never ate for the rest of the day!! Overall- fantastic staff, fantastic room and fantastic stay. Would I stay again- definitely!! Thanks to all the staff!
