Beautiful historic building

Pros: The location and the grounds. We didn't use the pool or spa so cannot comment on these.
Cons: Reception staff, breakfast and bathroom.
Location: Beautiful countryside and walks
The hotel is surrounded by lovely open countryside where you can walk and enjoy the peace, lake view and wildlife. I really liked the fact that dogs are not allowed in this area. The reception staff could have been a little less robotic and more relaxed and friendly on our arrival. The bedroom we stayed in was small but had lovely views over the gardens. It was clean and had everything we needed but the bathroom needs a little updating. It was adequate for our one night stay. We had our evening meal in the bar area and the food was average. There was confusion at breakfast re ordering eggs other than scrambled from the buffet and porridge which also isn't on the buffet. Eventually a gentleman came in and took our order. We waited quite a long time before a massive bowl of uncooked luke warm porridge arrived. It would also have been nice to see some locally baked artisan bread other than cheap commercially made sliced bread.

Very comfortable Victorian hotel

Pros: Everything especially the staff who were helpful and informative.
Cons: Our room was a bit small but otherwise it's very good.
Location: There's lots to see and do in Lincoln, especially the cathedral. We visited Woolsthorpe Manor. Sir Isaac Newton was born there - it's fascinating.
We enjoyed our stay; the staff are really polite and attentive. The breakfast was really excellent, especially the mushrooms which are so often tasteless. These were really good. The hotel has big grounds and we enjoyed our walk round the lake. I can thoroughly recommend it.
