Couples trip

10 to a 1 overnight

Me and my boyfriend had booked 3 nights in this hotel for my 21st Birthday as we had stayed in Clapham before at the Rafayel and always wanted to see what this hotel would be like as we liked the look of it when it was Hotel Verta. We arrived at around 3:30pm to check in and was greeted by a lovely lady who managed to upgrade us from the Deluxe room to an Executive Suite, which we were very pleased about! This room was gorgeous. Very open with a beautiful bath with a TV and a separate shower. Two lovely sinks with a huge mirror overlooking them and a nice little desk area. And the bed... you sunk into that beauty! Everything was perfect and we couldn't have been happier at this point. We got unpacked and decided to look around the hotel. Lovely bar and eating areas, and the lady in the spa let us go downstairs to nosey at the spa, which looked lush! We then went back to our room and got ready to go out for dinner in Clapham town. (Check out Franco Manca pizzeria. Beautiful pizzas for a great price!) We then went for a few drinks before settling back at the hotel. The next morning we had gone down for breakfast. Our table overlooked the helipad and we managed to see a helicopter taking off which was great, and the windows blanked out most of the noise! Everything from sausages, to hash browns, beans, etc. You could also have food to order including Eggs Benedict, smoked haddock, etc. The only thing I would say about the breakfast is that the scrambled eggs did taste quite funny and very bitty like they had curdled. And it would also have been nice to see a bigger selection of fruits instead of just melon, apple and orange as I have had other hotel breakfasts that have strawberries, blueberries and raspberries. After the breakfast, we decided to go to the spa. There are two saunas, one which is mildly hot and the other which is over 110 Celsius! It was very nice and relaxing though. Unfortunately the steam room was out of order as that would have been nice to go in. We then went for a swim in the pool which had separate sections that had different bubble and jet settings which were great! Now, this is where our trip went from a 10 to a 1. We went back to our room and got all dolled up because this was the night where we would do something special in London. It got to 4:30 and we were literally about to leave our room when we kept noticing that the lights kept going off and that our key didn't seem to be registering when you put it in the slot when you open the door. My boyfriend called down to reception and they said they would come up and check. It took about 15 mins for a lady to come and see if her key opened our door, which it didn't. So it wasn't just our key which was faulty. She then said she would get a mechanic up. So another 15 minutes passed and we rang up again, speaking to someone different who said that there was only one man on today and he would be up soon. My boyfriend got fed up so he went down to reception to see what was going on and the person on reception said that the mechanic was literally going up the stairs as they spoke. My boyfriend came back up and we waited another 20 minutes... so that person was obviously lying. The mechanic finally came and tried to see if he could open the door, which he couldn't. He then said he was going to reboot the electrics in the room, which also didn't work. So after about 2 hours of all of this, the manager came to our room and said that they are going to continue to try and override the electrics but it is possible that we are going to have to move and that we have to pack up. I was fuming by this time. We quickly got our stuff together and the manager told me that we would be moved to a 'River view room' I asked if it was the same room and he repeated 'Its a river view room' I told him I don't care about the view, I just want the equivalent, which is wasn't. It was the room we originally booked

Preiswertes Hotel mit guter Lage zum Stadtzentrum

War zwei Nächte da und hatte einen ausgezeichneten Aufenthalt. Mitarbeiter sind kompetent und freundlich. Ich werde es wieder nutzen.
