Arrived at great cumberland at 9pm, told it was my lucky day and that I had been upgraded to a suite at the hard rock hotel down the road. On arrival I was told that I had already been checked in and sent to my room. On entering the room, it was full of personal possessions and toiletries of a guest. I immediately left and went back to reception. Was made to wait while staff sorted the issue out - was eventually given a new room after almost 45mins. Waste of time and upgraded to a hotel that was not as good as the original one!

I love the location of the property. I took a bus to and from hotel at Marble Arch so it very close for me to drop my bags and collect my bags in evening before leaving London. Marble Arch station within a min or two walk, and plenty of shops and restaurants closely on Oxford St. Staff were friendly and extremely fast for check-in and check-out. I'm happy that I was able to store my bags after check-in. The room was very big and clean despite the sink looking a little rusty. The amenities of the room were disappointing. Although it was a surprise to find that there was a complimentary breakfast, there was a lack of options and the breakfast room was very small so I took my breakfast back to my room.

A lovely little tranquil haven with the most fantastic views in the Capital, but only a few minutes walk away from the numerous attractions and events London has to offer. Convenient for Park Lane, Oxford Street and Marble Arch, the hotel is a bit tired and things like cleaning in the main areas could be better. The carpet looks like it needs a good vacuum and items left outside doors could be cleared sooner. That said I would still return purely for the convenience

Good improvement

Has improved from when I have stayed here previously. Check in was quicker, room fairly spacious and very clean, comfortable nights sleep.

Great hotel close to shops

Pros: proximity to the oxford street shops.
Cons: possibly a consistancy of explanation of what your room entitlement was, how to opperate 'epic' shower and coffee machine.
Location: Shopping, on the date of our stay there was a muslim festival taking place on the sunday.
We principally came here for the shopping and sight seeing, we were not disappointed! The hotel is very modern, our room (room 116) was in the annex building where the bed was king size and comfortable, a blessing really because beds in hotels can be a bit of a lottery! All dining /breakfast facilities were in the main building but its a very short walk so not too much hardship. The food was a la carte but very good, the thrice cooked chips were arranged 'jenga' style on your plate, be sure you're really hungry because the rib eye is excellant! The staff were very friendly and helpful. When my daughter and her shopping pal arrived their room was in the main building and had to be converted into a twin bed fairly swiftly! The shower was described as 'epic' in a good way, double width with body jets! (room 4002) They enjoyed their stay as the shopping trip was a gift in remebrance of my late father, we shopped till we dropped, quite literally! We checked out early, for more last minute shopping and discovered that Marble Arch down escalators were out of order, not the fault of the hotel but a bit tricky with a very heavy suitcase(shopping) So the moral of the story is do online investigations of travel arrangements before you travel!
