Very nicely situated

Pros: Situation
Cons: Customers safety in the bathroom.
Location: Close to museums, and tube station
This hotel is very nicely situated for museums, tube station and all central London access. The room was clean. We had a room upgrade which we paid extra for. The bed was good, the decoration very dreary and the bathroom was extremely disappointing. The bath was tiny and the toilet was behind a radiator which was boiling hot and you had to squeeze behind it sideways on, to sit on the loo. My partner despite being careful burnt his leg 3 times and I managed to do it once quite badly. He was 6'4 and so I thought it, not very thoughtful to put him in that room that really was for mini people. Their was not much drawer space and the wardrobe was only for shirts. We were in the under ground floor which was very noisy at night when people were checking out at 3am above us. The tea and coffee making facilities only supplied 2 teabags per day unless you went upstairs to ask for more. I would say do not bother paying for a room upgrade as you only get bathrobes which we didn't use.

Lovely stay

Lovely hotel. Our room was large with a great bathroom. Unfortunately is was quite dark as it was on the ground floor on the street, so there were heavy curtains for privacy. The bed was too small for full comfort and really needs to be 5 feet in width. We didn't have breakfast, so we cannot comment on the food. The location was terrific. We were very close to a tube station, and surrounded by lovely restaurants.

Very Small rooms

I had booked a room with terrace at this hotel. On arrival we where served quickly but the room we were allocated was tiny and dark you could not easily manoeuvre around the bed, and while the hotel offered free wifi we could not connect to it in the room. I spoke to reception who were very helpful and changed our room. The next room was much lighter, still quite small but a better design and had a nice terrace, and a slightly bigger bathroom and I could connect to wifi. The hotel was convenient to the tube. I would not stay here again because of the room size.

Disappointing and poor value

We stayed one night and were on the top floor. The room was cramped and claustrophobic, with a sloping roof, and a tiny window which did not open,so natural ventalation. The bathroom door did not open fully (it opened onto the bed so you couldn't easily walk around the bed). The room was noisy due to the proximty to the lift, which meant a poor nights sleep. Breakfast was not included and for the price we thought it poor value for money. We would not have stayed a second night.

Great value and perfect location for London

The staff were helpful and not obtrusive. Although small, our room was comfortable and within easy access to the Gloucester road tube station. We would stay there again.

Quick review

The location was great, lovely area very close to underground (Picadilly line) and right down the road (c 5mins) from Hyde Park.

Tight Living

The hotel is miniaturized, functional with no restaurant facilities. Although not briefed I believe there were sandwiches, tea and scones available in the bar on the Sunday we were there. The breakfast facility was comprehensive and of good standard. The room was small with the bathroom door impeded from opening fully by the bed. The staff were very helpful. Lastly I expected the room to be better as when booking I paid extra for an upgrade. We would stay again

wheelchair accessible?

I am a disabled traveller. We took my wheelchair to London to do the museums. Just as well I can stand as the hotel has no disabled access and the front steps are steep. What was surprising was that the room and bathroom were disabled friendly with the bathroom especially being suitable (wheel in shower, grab rails etc). Apart from that the room was clean (though small), recently renovated and the staff helpful. The hotel is very close to Gloucester Road tube station and thus close to both the Natural History and Science museums and there is a Waitrose supermarket directly across the road

Excellent Choice in Prime Location

We absolutely enjoyed our three nights here. As stated in my blog review (http://www.mymariuca.com/2010/10/european-escapade-first-hotel.html), there was no room for complaints! Location is EXCELLENT, room very pretty (small but comfy) with all the facilities needed to make our stay comfortable and pleasant. Would definitely return when in London again, thanks Cromwell! :)
