Our stay was a mix of Monty Python and Fawlty Towers. Our arrival at reception we received a luke warm welcome; we were informed about a problem with the key / lock so we had to be “let into” room by a staff member throughout our stay. Entering the room we noticed the “enticing aroma “ of the potent blend of dampness and cannabis. We noted a towel placed on the bed was in fact the only one in the room. We requested some more towels as appropriate for two people over two days. After a short wait we were presented with what we thought was a pack of towels; after a short while I took the pack to the bathroom only to find the content to be a rather scruffy belt less bathrobe - so again we requested towels ........ so later at bedtime we went to prepare the bed to find marked (although clean) bed linen. On to the bathroom we discovered a number of unsatisfactory issues; these ranged from dirty or damaged paintwork, cracked bath surrounds; damaged shower tray and toilet roll holder. Next day; went to use the in-room kettle only to discover it partly filled with urine coloured liquid; took the kettle and requested a clean replacement - this didn’t happen so “kettle-less” throughout our stay. Final comment regarding our breakfast on our final day; food was lukewarm; cutlery and crockery missing; some basic food items not available; staff friendly but mainly ineffective. Final note; we stayed in a club room; goodness what other guests experienced in a standard rooms.
